      IHxVS-T1-DD - Iron Heart/Vater & Sohn 16.5oz Indigo/Indigo Duck Type I Jacket

Our first (of many we hope) collaboration with Vater & Sohn of Hamburg, Germany.

Like many of our finest ideas, this one was hatched over a beer.  This time it was with Sascha in Tokyo.  We had seen the amazing 16.5oz duck that Haraki had woven and we knew we wanted to do something different and special.

This jacket was the result of that chat.  For the sample jacket, I dunked the hardware in the Solent (The channel between the British mainland and Isle of Wight) every time I went swimming last year, and for the production run, Sarina dunked all the hardware in Kojima bay for 3 months….

Both the weft and the warp have been indigo rope dyed so expect some amazing fades.

The jacket is our interpretation of a classic Type I but made a little longer and less boxy than the original.  We believe that this has resulted in a very wearable and flattering Type I derivative.

The fabric is sanforised but unwashed, so expect a little shrinkage, but no more half of one full size.

      Available in XS-XXXL

      USD425

I wear an unsoaked/unwashed XL in this pic

Gotta agree - I dislike the boxy short fit of Type Is, but this one is really different. The stiffness is awesome - it actually doesn't move at all when you put them on for the first time after the soak.

Shrinkage was minimal but if you're in doubt, size up.

(I'm 42 - XL btw and the fit is raw / presoak. L was incredibly tight.).

in this (denim) world it's not about things you "need" @Graeme 😉
if we all just would buy things we really "need", Giles would be a poor man ^^

How many good fitting Type Is with a patch that awesome in a fabric that special do you know? See.

                  The fabric bleeds a bit.

Just did a quick measurement in my Office (have no real measuring tape, though) : Shoulders 47,5 cm, Sleeve 66 cm, Length 63 cm. So it didn't shrink much (it's been hot soaked for 40 minutes).

I thought that L would be tight on you Giles, so that explains it.

So far we haven't seen any single one who doesn't look great in that very special Type I.

And yes, definitely, it's one of many collaborations to come!
Huge thanks again to the crew!

For completeness' sake - here's it after the soak. It is so stiff, that every move makes a sound. Can't wait to beat it into submission.
