I have a pair of the Viberg/Heritage Research Mountain Hikers incoming from a friend.  Quite excited.  Pics when I get em.

Small update on my horse. As they shaped in pretty nicely I wear them currently only with normal thin socks due to the low toe profile. Both heels got resoled once.

              Cheers,

Son of a Stag still have a pair of Viberg Hikers in stock and in their sale. They're a size 8 UK (reckoned to fit like a 9 UK / 10 US by the shop staff), and made out of brown bullhide. They're going for £299.

If they were four or five sizes bigger, I'd have 'em. 🙂

The sole isn't really greenish. It's just the light in the shop throwing off my phone's camera.

pretty sure i know the answer to this question already, but if i'm a 7.5 uk in redwing chukkas and an 8 uk in all my tennis shoes (i.e. new balance), am i correct to go with the 7.5 in viberg?

I'm a US9 in most of my red wings (9.5 in the chukkas), a US9 in Yuketen, a 8.5 in Trickers and I went with a UK8.5 in my Viberg Service Boots…

atm I really think my perfect viberg service boot size would be a 9 as well...(which should be a US10 if I'm not totally wrong!)

so I'd say that you're at least an UK7.5, if not an 8!

that's just my two cents though...

thanks buddy….sounds like i might be better off with the 8.  i have an 8.5 in yuketen and they are a little roomy, my 8.5us rw chukkas are pretty much perfect.  i def feel more comfortable ordering an 8, especially based upon your comments.

Yeah, I'd recommend an 8 as well.  I'm an 11US in athletic shoes (including New Balance, by the way) and after I sent in the measuring kit, Jason Viberg put me in a size 10 Service boot and they're perfect.

Didn't you recently wanna sell your chukkas for being too big?..

i'm a little confused as to why the toe box is different for some of the service boots.  Is there a specification to get a toe box like the boondocker instead of one like is pictured on their customizer?

There are a number of different lasts/toe boxes.  The most "traditional" is a sprung last bump toe, which is what mine are….

The boondocker uses the "deconstructed" toe box.  You can request it specifically in the notes if you order via their webpage.  However, if you have any doubt, or want to ask any questions, I'd recommend calling and talking to someone at Viberg to get every detail clarified.  I talked over my order with Jason, and he was super helpful, and my boots ended up exactly how I wanted.

Thanks Chris.  I'll eventually get around to calling, but i didn't want to bother them with too many questions since they are so busy and I knew you guys could help me out with a few of the basics.  i'm still brainstorming atm about what i really want.
