I have assumed that they do manufacture in Cali.  It looks like Zip is buddies with them on the 'book, unsure if they get their (nice-looking) roller buckles from him or vice-versa but it wouldn't surprise me.  Indeed, I wonder if they are cobblering for him in general.  Tatman, they may have been the ones to beautify your boots.

Yeah that first pair is really great.  Even the ones I'm not as big a fan of I think are very well made.

The first pair is good looking. They remind me of the Santa Rosa HTC zip sells. I'm not sure about the cobblering or the buckles being in relation to him though. The buckles don't look like the different options I have pictured zip fabs… Who knows though. The cobblering looks quite a bit simpler as well on what I see however they are drastically different than what I have seen done by "zip" before so again... Who knows..

** did notice the cat paw which majes  me think they might not be related as well as I have normally seen his cobblering to he fine with bilrite with the exception ofvthe HTC Santa risa that has some super rare half soled on them

Thx chiba j thats the model I was able to touch irl, a nice engineer, was ready to pull the trigger but then I have enough boots for the moment, especially the engineers i have satisfy me more than enough

According to Kiya the Ace engineers at SE will be $750. Now I'm really interested to see what they look like.

Cool!  I'm set on engineers for a while but I will be following along with interest.  The Ace engineers I've seen don't have lasts that speak to me, but I did find some other boots of theirs I loved.  Here's a Himel collab I think is pretty rad, and I don't usually dig two tones other than oxfords or sneakers:

Yeah, I agree about the lasts. Mostly I'm just excited for a pair of engineers that I can actually try on before pulling the trigger!

Right?  The anxiety waiting for boots that may or may not work is kind of frustrating.  A lot of that in my life these days

But when it works out, the journey is worth the prize:

Yeah, especially when a) you cannot return them and b) they cost twice as much as the most expensive boot I've ever purchased (almost). That pic makes me want to grab a pair of the JL's in black.
