Can anyone give me some sizing advice regarding Red Wing 1907's?

I'm an 8D in the 8890's, another RW moc toe, so was going to go for the 8D in these too but heard that the 1907's fit a little smaller.  Apparently the 1907's have an insole in them which takes up some room.  Can these insoles be removed or do I need to size up to a 8.5D?

Any advice greatly appreciated as I'm probably not going to have a chance to try before I buy.

The Double RL store on Bleeker in NYC has some beautiful vintage Red Wings for sale - saw a pair from the 60's that was epic.  (As was the price unfortunately)

Didn't catch the size, they were closing up for the day so wasn't able to dig into everything but they had quite a few different pairs out on display for sale.  You might want to give them a call - 212.645.5513 - they were a bunch of boot nerds (and I of course mean that in a good way) They were very excited after they asked my buddy and I what boots we were wearing and we responded Alden and Viberg.  Gave them an opening to talk about boots.  Very nice people in there, going to go back when I have more time to look around.

Just wanted to post that my RW 2991 engineers are officially broken in – after only 2 wears!  I wore them for 10+ hours the first day and it wasn’t bad at all; just a bit tight around the vamp, as most new shoes are, but no noticeable heel slip or any other quirks.  The only complaint I had at that time was how tight the shafts were (I’m a big dude with big calves…) and that there is no pull loop to aid in getting them on.  My initial try-on was a total struggle and I was really concerned about having to fight with them every time I wore them in the future.  In fact, I was planning on sewing in some sturdy pull loops to aid in getting the boots on!

Anyway, I wore them again the other day totally expecting to have to fight to get them on but that wasn’t the case!  They slipped on easily, which I can only attribute to the leather having had time to “learn” my feet/calves.  I wore them again for around 10+ hours (office environment – not really “working” in them), and they loosened up a bit more, as I’m sure they will do again the next time I wear them.  But the cool thing this time was that they were super-easy to get off – didn’t even have to ask the wife for her assistance!  In short, these get the official Moonshine seal of approval!

I'd go with 8.5D. I had a pair of 1907s but found them to run larger than other heritage RW boots.

Interesting. Looks like the heritage 875 and 877's are about to get a little more heritage-y.

Also picked up a pair of pair of Red Wing 4580's. This roughout style was new to me and hard to find (perhaps a J. Crew exclusive?). Pics:

I think you're going to need some extra days in the week to wear all those new boots!  Nice choices though!

I'm spying some brand new additions to the Red Wing Heritage line for Fall. Some new leather options too. These will be must kops – especially the "Ice Cutters" -- looks like they may be wool lined? Nice.
