My issue with the Mizunos is not he cushioning after 250 miles, the bottoms are almost completely smooth.

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

I’ve just realised that the outside of my 1080s is wearing out at the front, under the toes, didn’t realise I was a dainty tie-striker! I have another pair ready to go though. I’ve been running more regularly in my lighter-weight, less-cushioned Zantes and enjoying those a lot.

Yeah, I guess Mizuno uses a softer rubber compound to improve cushioning and/or traction, but it's definitely at the price of durability.  Speaking of rubber compounds; I'm intrigued by innov-8's graphene rubber.  I like their trail shoes a lot and the idea of better grip and better durability sounds magic.

@cander49 Good luck and crush it! You’ve been looking pretty freakin fast on Strava lately.

I used to really like New Balance, but they stopped making the Leadville series, which were the ones I used. I’ve tried some of the brands suggested, but have largely ran/hiked/scrambled in Salomons for the past few years. The Sense Ride are probably my current favorite trail shoe, with the S/lab Ultra in second place. Their rubber seems pretty sticky and wears reasonably.

Thanks for the tip @cander49 on the racing flats you mentioned in your post. I've just purchased a pair of Nike Air Zoom Streak LT4 for a steal on the bay [emoji106]
Good luck in your upcoming event

Thanks guys! The Streak LT4 is actually a different shoe than the Streak that I've been running in lately, but it's still a great shoe. If you're changing things up dramatically, shoe wise, I'd definitely ease into it. Major changes can be hard on the legs!

Interesting re the Sense. Glad to hear they're lasting for you. A couple friends of mine had worn them out awfully quickly, so I never really gave them a chance for how much they cost. I've never really found a trail running shoe that replicates what I currently like in road shoes, so I've just been trail running in the Speed Rivals lately. Unless there's a ton of snow, they actually work super well for me.

Yeah, 2:37:45. There was blood and sweat, but fortunately no tears.  Haha. Despite how I look there, this was probably the least directly painful marathon I've had in awhile. I felt like crap the whole way this time, but I wasn't quite as thrashed at the finish as I usually am.  😃 😃

Outstanding work!  I can very safely say you will never find me running at 10 mph for 26.2 miles.  That kind of time just blows my mind.  I was happy just to average 6 mph for my one-and-only marathon!

Finally signed up for races for 2019. Heading back to The Ouray 100 to try to better my time of 45:56 from last year. https://www.ouray100.com/

There is also a documentary about it on Amazon if you are a prime member.
Also signed up for the Plain 100 in Washington in September. http://www.plain100.com/
Looks like that will be pretty hard, but in a different way. Essentially self supported, no pacers, no aid stations, and no course marking. Apparently people have gotten lost for hours on one part of the course. I’m arriving two days ahead of time to check out that section a few times. Should be fun… in some sense of the word.

I just came across this post! Idk how I've missed it for so long[emoji23] sorry for the long ish post…

Anyway I started running years ago for weight loss and did my first marathon in 2012 ans have done 50+ marathon or greater distances. 5 of those 50milers, 100k and 1 100m.

I'm not fast my PR for marathon is 3:42, although that being said that was pre trail roadie days. I seemed to slow down a bit when I got on the trail.

My milage and races have kinda died down a bit after my last 100M (Oil Creek 100) and I would consider what Ive done is enough to finish/survive a 50k/marathon.

Im looking at a few 50 milers this year and maybe a fall 100. So now im in the building phase of training.  I really wanna be around mid 40s, my last few weeks were mid 20s so not too far to go.

Trail stuff im looking at is cayuga trails 50M/mohican 50 then looking at some 100Ms for the fall. These are all races I've done and at least know what im getting into

I'm in the strava group already too[emoji846]

I got all of 200 miles out of them before they were bald and my ankles started to seriously hurt.  😞
                                      WTF.
Hopefully my Brooks Ghost 11s will last longer.

I started out in the wave riders years ago. They didn't hold up great.

I've run in Brooks glycerins and ghosts for the last 5+ years and had nothing but good luck with them

The ghosts have a little less cushion than the glycerins and a little higher drop I believe, but not much difference than that.

My first pair of brooks were the glycerin 6s they are at 17 now[emoji4]
