@goosehd I think this is something thats been understated all season. I've seen several drivers from all different teams complain about things that would present as 'engine braking' that seems like it'd pretty clearly be the recovery systems transferring unpredictable forces to the contact patch. there have been countless 'errors' made as a result of the hybrid system doing non-intuitive things. I really think its by far the worst thing going on with F1 right now, is the emphasis on hybrid systems....
edit to add the launch sequence issues. with finding the perfect charge window on the formation lap or you botch the launch.

@Tago-Mago ...I deserve that one.

It might actually be possible that Hamilton is breaking the Kardashian curse! Second place with his girl in attendance. We might be witnessing history.
-
@goosehd I'm pretty sure they just said it was a vague power unit issue. common thread this entire season across all PU manufacturers.
Update: Mekies said "we found out what it was, his power unit expired, we were going to replace that before the next race anyway."

@WhiskeySandwich said in Motor Sport:
"we found out what it was, his power unit expired, we were going to replace that before the next race anyway."
This would be so much better if he had said "we found out what it was, his engine died".
A "power unit" has no place in a formula one car....
-
@Giles haha. he all but did, yet they dance around the problem and say "we think we identified the problem". There it is: its your fucking blown engine.
I'm cool with turbos, but they need to ditch these hybrid systems and bring back higher cylinder counts that scream. -
That was a good show. Psyched for Ham and Ferrari getting it together with the strategy, despite Chuck having the worst luck this season. Speaking of bad luck, I think Kimi takes the cake. Another 7 DNFs, shows these power units are garbage.

I’m not saying George did the wrong thing but he got incredibly lucky with horrible stewardship

This is amusing.

Great race for Leclerc! I don’t know what Ferrari were thinking bringing in Hamilton. 4 laps to go under safety car and they think he is gonna get around Russell? Ugh.
Turned out to be a fun and interesting race
-
more interested in the safety car decision for the last lap. maFIA at it again..
-
2021 doesn't want a last lap, screws Hamilton
2026 doesn't get a last lap, screws Hamilton again..

Bro, wtf was that with the Ferrari penalties?! They proper fucked Lewis and Charles got off free with a much bolder offense. F'real, Oscar should've backed out. IMO, neither should have gotten a penalty, That was super unbalanced and inconsistent.
Kimi is a monster, but at the same time, he's gotten incredible lucky with his particular Merc....which seems to be working pretty consistently only for him.
