Help finding my Iron Heart fit.
-
I acquired something of a denim habit after losing a lot of weight last year. I have grown a ludicrous collection (~50 pairs) since then and I'm steadily trying to buy a little bit of everything I don't already have.
By chart, I should be able to wear just about any IH size 40, but in my short but colourful time collecting, I've found fits that have the waist/thigh measurements I'm looking for, but have a top block that's too narrow to let me get so far as buttoning the waist. I can, and have just gone oversized to compensate (My 25oz Samurai's are enormous (510xx 42's)), but IH feel more special and I really want to nail the fit. I'm still big and barrel-gutted and I've always worn jeans low so I prefer lower rise jeans these days. I have higher rise jeans (Duluth, Levi's 501, Orvis) that sit at my natural(?) waist in 44-46, that is definitely not my preferred fit. I'm a life long under-the-gut guy.
My absolute favorite pairs of jeans are my Sage Firebeast 2 size 40's, ONI Kasuri 622 size 40, N&F King of Slub 2 Weird Guy 40, and N&F Elephant 11s True Guy 38 (Worn 75 times according to my fade log, the only jeans I've begun to put serious fades on). I love low rises like Levi's 511 and N&F Skinny/Super Guy, but I think they only work for me because they all have 1-11% stretch.
I'm leaning hard towards the IH-666-XHSib size 40.

The only way you will dial in your fit is to measure and compare (or you can buy/try on a load of different fits/sizes).
So measure a pair that you own that you like (the way we do), then compare with the measurements on every product page). Expected stretch is given on every product too.
This should help you too:
Once think you have nailed your fit/size, if you still have questions, drop an email or start a chat with the crew at shop@ironheart.co.uk

@JohnnyOverload I wear most of my pairs under the natural waist, because I also have a gut and don't like the denim sitting there. My favourite cut is the 555, yes it's a mid to high rise cut but not super high rise like 1955s for example. I can wear them high enough to avoid the "builders crack" but low enough for my front. Best thing is that even sized up they never look baggy because they are a slim fit. But look out for thigh measurements on the 555

@JohnnyOverload Doing what @Giles recommended is the best way to nail down the fit that you’re looking for. I did it as well as many others here on the forum. Once you measure your pair, send a note to the IHUK crew with the specific questions that you need help with. They are really good at what they do as long as you put the work in beforehand.
This is one of those situations that the work and effort that you put into it makes it easier to get a great product in return.
You’re also very lucky in that you have a stockist very close to you and you might want to make the drive to try some fits on in person. Not many of us have that luxury and who knows what you’ll find when you’re there. The shop is called Guilty Party @guiltyparty and located in Atlanta.

@goosehd Awesome! I didn't realize that there was a stockist in Atlanta. I'll make that drive this weekend.
-
@JohnnyOverload you should definitely check them out. Everybody there is super knowledgeable and they have a really good selection.

@JohnnyOverload we're here and ready to help

@guiltyparty, I'm not too far from you guys (I'm in Asheville). Wife wants to go check out Atlanta this spring/summer, and I'm going to make a concentrated push to come see y'all.
