Enviable! My old workshirt went a long time between washes but never was I able to pull off six months. Wabash loves getting washed though. If you wash more regularly now you see evo every time.

Can anyone compare this shirt to the military serge shirt? I’m really tempted to pull the trigger soon on one of these. My size L black serge western is the best fitting shirt I’ve ever worn.. so I’d like to hear a comparison if possible because I know the fabrics are very different. Thanks!!

The IH western cut is very similar in all its iterations. There are some minor differences in sizing between models but you can check those by comparing measurements using the «Compare» function on the website.  In this case sizing is quite similar actually.

The fabrics are actually very similar if you ignore colour and pattern. Both are made of serge. Both are around 12oz and both are twill weaves. They have a similar heft and hand. Otherwise construction and detailing is the same on both shirts.

The major difference is that one is sulphur dyed olive and the other is indigo dyed with wabash dots.

I’ve been lurking here for a while and it’s time for my first post. I have a couple of items from IH, but this shirt is most worn as I use it as my work shirt (gardener). I have it my second season and wearing it during Australia’s  winter (I’m not an aussie so excuse my english 🤷🏻‍♂️). Yesterday I gave the shirt a good but gentle brush wash (with brush Im using for my boots, I think its made with pig’s hair). Now the white popped out nicely. Im washing it weekly, but the dirt was so deep penetrated, that I was confused last couple of weeks. The result is great!

Wow, they look fantastic 😱 How is the sizing at overalls in comparison to the classic jeans?

                                        What's up all,

Newbie to the IH forum and the IHSH-62 is my very first brand new IH garment.
It's amazing and already looking for another IH shirt.  😉

I'm 5'10" wearing size small, the 62 is a touch of longer than my other shirts.
Just saw the earlier discussion soak with 90c might help on shrinkage.

Had tried first soak with very hot soak but it probably only 60-70C, for 10mins.
I did not dare to soak it too long cause afraid of indigo lose…
But it apparently not shrunk at all. Just a little bit softer to wear.

Should I have another try with exact 90C? I wish I have 1" shorter in sleeve & length.

                                        Thanks~~

                                        Lucas

Hi Lucas, and welcome to the forum.

10mins won’t do much to any garment, and certainly not this shirt.

Agitation plays a big role in shrinkage, so time and movement as well as moisture and heat are needed. The shrinkage mentioned earlier is obtained using a washing machine on a low spin.

Either way, 1” is very unlikely to happen. There isn’t that much shrinkage in this shirt. Half an inch at most. Bear in mind that the shoulders and chest will also shrink.

As for indigo loss, do not worry. Any indigo leaving the fabric will be excess indigo and won’t affect your fades. In fact the IH Wabash loves being washed and that is one of the wonderful ways it ages.

                                            Hi Neph,

Thanks a lot for the detailed information.
Yesterday did some arm exercise to crease the sleeve, it did shorten the length.
Thinking I'll just put it on wear&worn anyways until I need a wash.
Will do the best to wear it hope the cool season comes soon!

                                            Cheers.

                                            Lucas
