Yeah, I recall reading that. I definitely have no itch to see weird implementations for the sake of pure novelty, but I do like to meditate on peculiar ideas.

On that note, I think the grey weft is great and gives the jeans a bit of a more somber tone, while still retaining a close resemblance to indigo/white.

There is no reason why I can't do a grey weft denim.  But I have to say it would not be at the top of my "next projects" list, I simply have too much going on to think about and too many other things going on to worry about initiating a new run of a new denim that will require me to commit to 400 pairs of jeans.  That is not to say it won't happen, but it won't be soon.

Messing around with warp and weft won't happen.

As Chris says, Haraki did the indigo/indigo against his better judgement and probably just to shut me up.  And yes, the quote was (I can remember where we were and what we were doing when he told me), "I have made the indigo/indigo.  It's a nice fabric, but not denim, but I think you'll like it"…... Funny post script, he has since asked me if he can use it in Japan, because "actually, I quite like it after all".....

I'd like to see the new 777 in the 18oz late this year, which is when I'll be buying a new pair. A reasonable request!

Sounds reasonable but no.  Unless you want the indigo/indigo.

I have not even launched the 21oz yet, the next one will be indigo/indigo 18oz.

If they prove to be popular enough, then and only then, will I think about other denims.

Indigo/Indigo is 18oz, your wish has been granted.  😎

The Strike Gold 21XX denim did that, I believe it was a mud-dyed brown. It looks terrific.

Reminds me, on Kauai they have a lot of iron oxide in some of the mud, and they use it as a dye. Basically a burnt orange color. It would make a unique weft dye on denim for sure.

                Think it, be it.

If I were going to request an "off" weft, it would probably be brown.

Have you seen N&F's coffee dyed lot? It's the warp in their case but it's an interesting idea. Maybe an indigo warp with a coffee dyed weft? Could be cool.

Gotta say, I'm against the idea of IH spending much time messing with coloured wefts (apart from those already done). There are quite a few brands doing this, and have been doing this for a while, not wanting to sound like an old reactionary but it just doesn't strike me as a very Iron Heart thing to do.

Made in England, clothed in Japan, fed in America and drunk in Belgium !

I love colored weft jeans, don't get me wrong, but I'm with Mega- it doesn't really seem to fit the Iron Heart ethos.

Not even an earthy brown? That wouldn't be too different from one of the SE crossovers they did.

Agree. I'd be against crazy saturated colors like red or yellow etc., but it does seem to me that a more subtle, (as you say) earthy brown would fit into the IH design aesthetic. Particularly if the dyeing medium was itself earthy and unusual in some unique way.

                              Here`s a little story:

3 weeks ago I was driving to my parents house when it came to me that on the other lane were a lot of motorbikes with or without sidecar.
It was February 1st north of Munich snowing at 0° C…
Those bikers were driving home from the Elephant Rally or Elefantentreffen in the Bavarian forest, near the Czech border, where snow is guaranteed....
So I thought there should be an IH jacket for biking in winter, like a shearling lined, 2" longer bodied 526 with a B3 kind of collar and maybe sleeves, too.

Basicly a type B III jacket.

And will there ever be a successor to the magnificent IHSH-08ss / sbg?

I think anyone who remembers G's pair of 17oz would welcome a return of that denim.

That denim has not gone away….

May do 1955S in it.  If you hear no more, rattle my cage in a few months.....

TW as in Triple Works?  Is no more, after a lot of deliberation H and I decided to can the brand.  All stuff that was going to be released as TW will now be release as IH.

What does this mean for lighter products? Is there a limit to how light H is willing for IH stuff to be?
