@Oaktavia yeah it seemed to be on off season her for morels as well, we have a spot where we usually find a bunch but found less than 10 this year , always happy with whatever we can find though . This was my first time finding the golden oyster , I have to say I like them a lot ,maybe more than morels !

@spleef_oner morels are tasty but oysters really are something special. I haven't found a large enough group of shroomies to harvest yet lately, but I did find a beautiful small cream colored cluster last weekend. Oysters around here transition from spring/summer to fall/winter colors. The last ones I found before those were the FW ones that are brown, portobello colored.

@twin oh yes battered and fried like chicken nuggets or popcorn chicken. People go nuts about that particular mushroom. I have some in my freezer at the moment.

@twin those look like honey or golden oysters to me. I saw some white ones on stumps in my property but they were a few days too old. One of the clusters was growing feet from my window and I didn't even realize it till yesterday.

@Oaktavia They do make good wine. Made some last year.

@twin nice...how many berries do you need for that?

@Oaktavia I get enough to fill two half gallon canning jars. You put the berries in the jars with 2 cups of sugar on top. Let stand in the sunshine so they become wine.

@twin dang that sounds pretty simple. Had I not hopped on the sober wagon, I'd totally try that.

@Oaktavia You have to keep a lid on but not tight so it can vent. Outside for 3 months or more. The longer the more alcohol in the wine.
