Those Aurora shoes reminded me of some nice moccasins I had for 10 years. Wassookeag Moccasins made in Maine. These were triple soled buffalo leather with deerskin lining

            @wjw those look cozy

The northeast has some great manufacturers

I'm not a boot guy so I dont really take advantage of any of the brands in my pnw back yard (nicks, whites, wesco, viberg etc)

@GraemeE saw the aurora chukka kind of boot a while ago on Reddit and really like them. How's sizing working? Like compared to other brands?

@FlavourFade they are interesting in that they come pretty stiff to begin with and mold to the top of your foot as they break so, in my experience, even if you are err a half a size larger they still work

The company also has the option to let you submit a tracing of your foot to recomend you the best size

Im 43 birkensock US 10.5 in vans and have aurora in both US 10 and 10.5

You're a bad man for posting this @Marc2706

I've never heard of Crown Northampton before and made the mistake of looking at their website. [Warning alert]

Not a healthy thing to do for one's bank balance.

I've never been to Northampton before - so there might be a day trip in my future.

@GraemeE thanks for the answer! Not really sure how I would combine them with my wardrobe but they look so cool that I have to get a pair eventually

@Bridger I have to admit that I hadn‘t heard of this company before either and I actually came across it by chance on the Heddels platform one week ago

                        https://www.heddels.com/2026/04/how-crown-northampton-sneakers-are-resoled/

The shoes have a delivery time of six to eight weeks and since I was not sure whether they would fit, I bought a used pair that looked like new. And I have to say I am very impressed with the quality, especially the comfort. I said to my wife these shoes feel like Brazilian samba dancers are wrapping my feet with their soft hands. Famous last words…….😁

@Bridger worth looking for the factory shops, could be slight seconds / end of lines available.
Had these Cheany Chukka boots and brogues around 11 years ago from the factory shop

Indeed @NickD. I have a few pairs of Jeffery-West and Joseph Cheaney shoes and boots.

It would be cool to check out whatever of these shoe-makers facilities are open to the public.

Great quote @Marc2706. However, based on your posts, I am wondering if you are talking from experience rather than making a simile 😃

@Bridger heads up that the Cheaney store is not in Northampton itself but approx 30km further north.
