        Was searching for some Lee Scratch Perry.
        Everything I found was recorded after he set his Black Arc Studio on fire.
        Not only the studio was missing to him afterwards ;-).
        By the way, second hand vinyl prices in Hamburg are astronomical.

          @Aetas I only have one of his and its a fairly modern re-issue of revolution dub from 1975

          Was that before or after the studio fire ?

                @GraemeE :

                …revolution dub from 1975.
                Was that before or after the studio fire ?

                Before!
                His first studio fire was around 1979. It happened again with his Swiss studio in 2015.
                The record above is his last but one in his Jamaican studio. The cover speaks fore itself ;-).
                Was searching for his one year older but prettier sibling The Upsetters - Superape.

                Found some in HH, but could have bought an IHT for the price instead …(ended up doing exactly that).

                      The '79 fire was intentional?!

                        I think ive come to the conclusion , after listening to these 2 super ape albums, that im going to need some more good dub album recomendations from anyone willing to offer.

                        At this point I think my collection only has a couple King Tubby, a couple Augustus Pablo and one Lee Perry.

                        What are the classic albums I need to be digging into (the kind of blue, take 5, sunday at the village vanguard of the dub world)

                        @Aetas @endo @J-IV or anyone else?

                          I'm new here and have no idea, but I'm also interested in the answer.

                              Definitely a rabbit hole.
                              Started on 7” B-Sides in the 70’. Full 12’’ from Jamaican producers in the late 70’ and 80’, who influenced a lot of genres and all this later dub to come.
                              Punk (Clash), PostPunk (Public Image Ltd.), Drum and Bass (Massive Attack). There was even Dub-Techno and more.
                              Two staples to me are Scientist who radiates until today and Mad Professor without DnB wouldn’t sound like it does.

                                As a “casual” citizen of the dub world, The Super Ape albums are pretty quintessential. Here are a handful more albums I’ve dabbled in and have recorded some memories over:
                                Yabby You - Beware Dub
                                Scientist - Dub War; Space Invaders; Heavy Metal Dub (contrary to the name, it is more heavy on the island vibe)
                                King Tubby - King at the Control (my intro to dub)
                                Linval Encounters Pac-Man
                                Jammy Prince - Dub Kamikaze (dub organ masterclass)

                                I'm as ugly as you
