This and Europe '72 are my go to albums when somebody asks for recommendations to get into The Dead.

        Settle down easy......

@Heritage_Guy I find that in my circles there is a lot of anti dead sentiment just based on pop culture references without having heard the music

I was in the same boat when I was young until I worked at a winery one summer after finishing school

The first day on the job at 7am the owner/winemaker handed me a homemade bong made out of a mtn dew bottle and told me that he picks the music we listen to.

Working in the vineyard and cellar it clicked for me - also being completely barbecued and drinking great pinot all day didn't hurt either

I feel like the OG Deadheads just followed the muse and knew good music when they heard it. As a GenX teen there was a ton of stigma about Deadheads and the tribe following them around the country so you really had to wade through alot to get the heart of it all. Also there were no tape traders in my social circles so it wasn't until Jerry passed and the internet archive that I found out I am a Keith and Donna era Deadhead. Love me some Pigpen too but the setlists during the Keith and Donna years are really the best to my ears.

@68degreesorless when you get a chance to make a dada reference in a thread the only reasonable response is to grab that (conceptual) bull by the horns

                            Well done
