Thinking about a pair of these for a change and to embrace a wider leg. I normally wear 777s - has anyone got both sets and could provide any advice about sizing and specifically if I should order some with the same waist size or go up / down one?
-
I don't see why you will want to go up a size on 634's vs 777. Get a pair that the waist starts just a little snug in the beginning and you will be good to go. They have much wider profile than the 777.
-
I was just going to order same waist size - although wondered if this made sense as 634 is a medium rise instead of the 777 low rise so the waist will hit different.
-
@Thor You can order two pairs, try them on and return the one that does not fit to our liking. It is as easy as this!

Thanks all - may have to do the dual order. Had hoped to get through to Rivet & Hide but probs wont be for the next few months.

Finally gave in and got a pair of 634s. First pair of IH denim. I now see what all the talk is about. What a great fit, great texture to the denim, strangely buttery soft to the touch! The next rabbit hole. I am interested to see how they age :). First if was UHF, then wabash, then shirts, 21oz sashiko, thermals, them type III jacket. Thats how it all begun……

Heyy, my first 634S and my first IronHeart ever! Really enjoy the tenderness yet strong of the fabric, also functional in cold weather. Love it!

Hi, I am new to the forum - I have been interested in getting a pair of 634s but the inseams currently seem to be around 34” and I think I would need at least a 36”. I have heard that different batches can come in different sizes, is this true?
-
The inseam will stay plus or minus a little bit from what it says in the sizing table.
If you want a longer inseam, then look at some of the other 634 variants:

https://www.ironheart.co.uk/bottoms/ih-634s-142.htmlIf, it is specifically the 21oz you are wanting, then look a some other cuts:

etc etc etc
You will find more if you look around, but I don't know what you specific requirements are....

@Dick-Laurent one thing you may want to consider: are you looking at tag sizes or actual measurements? Take a minute and check out this video on how to measure a pair of denim that fits you and then compare those measurements to the sizing charts:
-
@eemmmiiee true waist is a poor metric to use when sizing. Measure a pair of jeans that fits you, using the IH measuring methods, then base your choice on that.
-
@eemmmiiee with the 21oz, very unlikely to get any noticeable lasting shrinkage. Easily stretches an inch in the waist. If you have a lot of pressure on the waist you could probably get an inch and half of stretch give or take. My 5 year old pair of 21oz waist is 1.5inches bigger than they were originally. I think anything over 1.5inches would be if you were actively/forcibly trying to stretch them.
But as many would say here, shrink and stretch isn't an exact science and everyone's adventure differs. I would plan sizing for about an inch of stretch in the waist. If you don't wear a belt, or have a belly like me exerting force on the waist, maybe plan for an inch and a half. And go off your best fitting jeans measured IH way rather than your true waist as @neph93 recommended
-
I guess my experience is a bit different. I own two pairs of 63421S and they measure just about the same in the waist as when I bought them. Mind you, I didn’t buy them with the expectation that they’d stretch out so they aren’t really under any kind of tension when I’m wearing them.
-
@Brandrea good point. All depends on if there is tension/force exerted on the waist
