Sweet! I was hoping that I can combine the soak and wash steps.
I also don't want to put these in the washing machine just yet.

@iamjustdanny make sure you have shrank the jeans to set the stitching. If not, you may be setting yourself up for issues later on with premature failure or blowout.
-
@goosehd duly noted. Will use hot water.

First pair of IH denim, straight into the deep end. Sized down to a 34 based on the measurements and the waist was perfect out of the bag. Got my soak and wash in, now we wait. Wish me luck.

@rasta the waist will feel small when they dry from the wash. It just takes time, persistence, and a lot of stubbornness and they will stretch back out. Once they do, you will have the perfect pair of UHR’s. It’s not as bad as I’m describing, but for the uninitiated a bit unnerving. Stick with it as it may take a day or two for the waist to stretch back out.
Let us know how it works out for you.

Just picked up a pair of these! To all the UHR veterans out there, do you recommend hemming these before or after the initial soak and wash?
(Apologies if this has been discussed before— I couldn’t find any comments on it!)

@MrJay They'll shrink roughly 2 inches according to the webpage, I'd get them hemmed before hand and save money shipping them back and forth, but totally up to you if you want to make sure they'll fit you first/what shrinkage will be like... Also depends how warm you'll wash them, ideally you'll want to get all the shrinkage out the way first thing.
-
@MrJay If you are looking for a specific length, then I would wait. While it’s easy to say that you will loose 2 inches, it’s not an exact science. If you’re more flexible, then you can hem them upon purchase knowing that they may not end up exactly where you want. For example, most of the inseams are around 37 inches and I know I want 32 inches as my final. I would hem them to 34 inches and hope that they will shrink the 2 inches giving me my 32 desired. I am flexible and know that it may end up being 32.5 or somewhere around there.

@MrJay I'd shrink them first then just so you can get the exact length

Wear in good health too!

I can see the potential from my pre-soak try-on. These are going to be mint once I get them dialed in.
