This thread will contain news and messages from mods/admin that relate directly to the forum and the way it functions.

Posts here by the mods/admin will contain useful news and info for all forum users. These may relate to changes, warnings regarding spam or scam attempts, events or competitions, or changes to guidelines, etc.

From time to time I will cross post things here in order to cast as wide a net as possible, like happy hour meet ups, for example. I will use the post heading function to indicate the content of the post.

Users can also ask questions about the way the forum works and is administrated, make suggestions, or give feedback.

Over the next couple of weeks I'll be pruning threads on the Buying and Selling, Want to Buy and Trade boards. All threads dated earlier than 1.1.2021 will be deleted.

If you have thread that is still "live" and is older than that, now is the time to bump it.

The next forum «happy hour» (or five), will be Saturday 11th September with a 7pm BST start. Hope to see attendees both old and new. All are welcome!

I’ve had a couple of reports of user accounts that are obviously spammy/scammy starting to direct message people on the forum. The content is flirty/suggestive and asks users to switch comms to email.

This is probably a new tactic to avoid the moderating that happens when scammers post on threads. We can zap those guys quickly. In order to keep the forum as «clean» as possible, if you recieve a shady DM, please message me with the content of the DM and the username of the sender.

Future idea, maybe we should see about finding some beers that everyone can get hold of (possibly a challenging task) and do a bit of a tasting?

That sounds like a great idea @LewisStonehouse , at the very least we could pick a style if anyone was interested and compare that (since I've seen a ton of beers in the favorite beer thread that are in no way available in MD).  My wife will be out of town as well, i suspect in direct relation to me telling her about another happy hour

I like it… I like it a lot. If we went for some standard Belgian offerings (classic geueze for example), then most people could get amongst it. Alternatively locally produced impy stouts could be a common denominator.

Of course, some folks don’t drink or don’t drink beer, and if @RoxRocks86 joins then she’ll be on buckets of coffee as it will be some ungodly hour om Saturday morning where she is [emoji1]

There appears to be an issue with photos published in the forum via Tapatalk showing up on desktop web browsers. They appear as place holders only.

Can anyone else corroborate this for me?
