      Getting there

Flying to Gardermoen and using the airport express train is the easiest way. The airport express train will cost you 175 NOK (approx 20 EUR, 17-18 GBP) and takes about 20 minutes from the airport and into town.

      Acommodation

It is hard finding anything decent below the 100-120 EUR pr night range, you might find room in a hostel or similar facilities below that.

      Shopping

Prices are high in Norway, so unless you want to spend a lot of money, I would not do much shopping here. But if you really want to, you have a few shopping "areas", you have the hip and cool Grünerløkka, which is east of the river dividing Oslo (Akerselva), you have the posh Bogstadveien which is in the north-eastern part of city center and you have the central city center itself with a pastisj of stores. Prices are high, really high, but you can find nice sale items and well, if you forgot your hoodie and need one - you will find something nice.

      Sights

      Frognerparken

Marka (the forest area surronding Oslo, it is quite unique to have such a large forest-y area so close to an urban area, recommended.

The opera, the new building is quite grand.

Will write more when I get home 😉

Seize the day and don't you cry.

I'm going to be in Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Copenhagen in August. Anyone have any hotel, drinking, and/or eating recommendations? For drinking/eating, especially looking for non-touristy stuff to do. And in Oslo we're going to be there on my wife's birthday, so if anyone has a recommendation for a really special meal that would be great. We eat everything! Thanks.

With regards to Oslo, I have personal experience of these restaurants, hotels and areas:

This is a famous restaurant with great views over Oslo city and good food, would be good for a special night: https://www.ekebergrestauranten.com/english

What kind of price class are you looking for with regards to a hotel? The Thief is high end but pretty spectactular https://thethief.com/en/ The Royal Christiania http://clarion-royal-christiania.hotels-in-oslo.com/en/ is very central and a good midmarket option. Hotel Folketeateret is also good and central and on Youngstorget which has a lot of good bars and eateries surrounding it.

As for things to do, wandering around Grunnerløkka eating and drinking is a good idea. Sud Øst is a good place for lunch and there are a couple of micro breweries with attendant pubs. The Nighthawk Diner does a very nice burger. Grunnerløkka is also good for a night on the tiles.

It's a touristy thing to do but please visit Vigelandparken. It really is unique. https://www.visitoslo.com/en/product/?TLp=181601

But I'm either working or a tourist myself when I visit, @hajduk is the man with the finger on the pulse, trendy metropolitan hipster that he is  😉

My pleasure. If anything else occurs to me I’ll let you know, also if you’re wondering about anything specific please do ask.

One thing, Stockholm is a pretty expensive hotel city compared to Oslo and Copenhagen. No idea why but £100 a night gets you a lot less there than it does in the other two.
