Winter Joys…

We're making the best out of heavy snow and cold weather: Whisky, Opera, Bobsleigh rides and so on. Have a good new year's eve everybody!

What's the thinking behind the buoy G? Visibility for boats, or safety for you? I imagine at those temps if you stop moving and hold on to one of those you'll freeze.

It's a Tow Float.  It serves 3 purposes.

1. It is highly visible.  The Solent is one of the busiest waterways in the world, I like to increase my chances of not being taken out by a boat or jet ski.  Also really useful when we are swimming long distances a long way from shore, our shore support can easily see us.
   Here is a bunch of us in the summer..
   
2. It is (to date) 100% waterproof, so I can carry car keys, phone, clothes, shoes in it.
3. It is buoyant so if I want to stop for a pint of beer a ciggie and a chat, it makes things easier.

Today was the annual swim in support of our local inshore rescue station.  I did not take part, just went along a watched.  In retrospect I am seriously pissed off that I did not go in.  So it's def for next year….
