@Nick I think the version of Astro Bot we have would be considered the sequel.
Had to have a look at arc raiders, that looks like something I could get into. Awesome

ARC is very much playable for a newcomer. It's in a general lull right now as the end game loop hasnt retained most players - huge October update incoming, so it's a game worth playing and then returning to later in the year. Online multiplayer games tend to have issues with longevity, hard to balance the game + a small studio making content for it is always going to take time. Modern gamers have little patience.

I feel like Rockstar have given themselves an impossible task here, living up to the years of hype around GTA 6 - I hope it does live up to the hype as we will never hear the end of it if it doesn't...

@1WayTrip RDR2 online? 😅 however if GTA6 is as good as RDR2 then Rockstar will probably account for half of Scotland's GDP in a few years

@ChrisC I look at Red Dead II. The immersion was fantastic, the subtle things, NPC's building houses, going about their day. It's a bit more tricky to repeat this magic sauce in a densely populated city for GTA, for sure.

Do think the hype will underwhelm some gamers that are expecting a full on life-sim when GTA has always been a sandbox with RPG elements, but basically just lots of guns and cars.

I did see some of the leaks, footage from 2023, and it has defo evolved as it should.

Just praying for 40fps minimum for PS5.

@ChrisC I think the fans and critics may be more responsible for that hype. I haven't seen a whole lot actually direct from Rockstar. We'll probably never hear the end of it regardless, haters gon hate, and nobody does it like gamers lol

having said that, i've gone back and forth so many times on it, but i'm definitely getting it and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I've had every GTA since the original overhead games and they're always fun. The hype generates expectations, and expectations lead to critique and disappointment. I only expect to have fun, surely there will be that, right?

@Nick I'm buying a Netflix subscription for it 😂 (even though I could wait 6 hours and watch on YouTube...)

I really can't wait, I have a lot of great memories playing GTA's with my friends and taking turns doing missions.

It's a shame about the leaks, I keep seeing crap on socials that is basically spoiling parts of the game - I would rather go in blind...

RDR2 was probably the first time a Rockstar game had a lot of likeable characters. I hope it was a sign of a more permanent shift and not just something they had to do because they wanted players to feel sad about the gang collapsing.

Looking absolutely amazing, no way Rockstar could even botch this if they tried. Some of the details are insane. An Aussie streamer spent 2.5 hours with Rockstar a few months back watching game play with a lead dev. Said at one point Jason was eating an apple in a safe house apartment and when he finished it, he held onto the apple core and then chucked it into the bin. What the fuck haha, so unnecessary and yet it's in the game 😅

Soundtrack slaps too. The vibrancy of the world, NPC's, just wow. We also got a sneak look at some of the classic Rockstar satire (with the tv ads).

Oh yeah and @AdamJ, if you see this, I've submitted a three month annual leave request from November 19th. Thanks mate.

@Nick yeah that was the first thing i noticed in almost every shot: its a living environment. The first time I experienced this was RDR2, and this has that 10 fold. Every place is so dense with ambient activity, it really steps up the immersion. It really looks like they carried over a TON of elements from RDR2 to spectacular effect. I'm kinda blown away already
