Some one said this is where the bike dudes hang out? Hoping to be joining you soon, have got my direct access course next month and fingers crossed will have a full motorcycle license by around 15 Sept!
-
@WithBongInHand that’s awesome dude! Best of luck with it! Have you got your eye on a particular bike yet?
-
Good luck! What bike have you got your eye on once you pass?
-
@WithBongInHand @BenBWH Congratulations to the both of you. The freedom of riding on two wheels beats a car any day of the week and so very happy I made that decision years ago. Be careful, watch your surroundings, and always and I can’t stress always enough to expect the unexpected. Most drivers are idiots…some will say all

-
@goosehd thank you mate! Been wanting to do this my entire adult life but somehow it kept getting put off! This year that changes!
-
@NickD thanks man! At the moment yeah a few! Started off thinking Royal Enfield, possibly interceptor. The more research I’ve done I’ve swung toward Triumph, a Bonny or speed twin! Am currently fixated on a Kawasaki z650rs but of course this is all based on looks, reviews and vibes! Am fully expecting everything to change once I can actually test drive one! Any suggestions?
-
@BenBWH Oh you already know! Probably an Iron 1200, though I’m not ruling out a Bonnville just yet.
-
@goosehd Thanks man and I’ll certainly heed this advice. Other drivers being idiots has been the main reason I’ve put it off for so long.
-
@EvoChoppin yeah that was the best weld-on I could find and it’s done great since 2019. I suck at paint and would love to get an airbrush for my next project. Gonna get the Gasbox full frame for my rubber-mount sporty and I’ll probably try that.
You’re running a carb on that? -
@WithBongInHand dude I keep looking at an 883 iron but I feel like it a bit much for a first bike! I’d get so much shit of my mates!
Maybe I still will tho, I’m not big on what other people think so we shall see! Good luck with your course mate -
@BenBWH A bit much in terms of coin? Might as well get what you want when you know you’re gonna end up spending that money eventually anyways.
-
@BenBWH 883 is a great bike to start with. Remember to take your time and lay off the throttle. One of the things that my instructor really focused on was throttle control and hand placement. If you keep your hand (wrist) in a neutral position (parallel to the ground), then you will not grab a handful of throttle when things start going sideways (and it will). The bike is only as fast as the throttle hand allows. The 883 has a great amount of power, but nothing like the sport bikes that can get out of control quickly.
Hope that makes sense.

Not just budget, more it’s my first bike and I’ll probably drop it or some other dumb shit! Plus it’ll be a little “all the gear and no idea “ won’t it?

-
@goosehd thanks Goose! Something to keep in mind for sure! There’s a few 883’s by me that are up for half decent money, I’ve got a Harley friend who’s adamant I’ll be riding on soon so I’ll go for the test ride and see where we end up! Good to know I’ve got folks here I can ask silly questions of and not need to worry! Appreciated mate
