I’ve been on the hunt for a Tellason coverall jacket in the white oak cone mills denim for quite some time now. As @GraemeE has been on the hunt with me and has offered his expertise in chore coat history along the way, he can attest to my mild obsession.
To no avail has a “vintage” Tellason white oak coverall found its way to me. However, as the denim gods would find it to their divine wisdom to shine down on me, Tellason just released their Montana chore coat in a small batch dead stock White Oak Cone Mills selvedge 13.5oz denim. The indigo rays shined down and I knew this was the one!!

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

@GraemeE this is the medium. The fit is money. Hopefully it won’t shrink much. Tellason said it will only shrink about 2% so I think it should be good still.

Not bad. Maybe with some heavy washing it would be good too.

Tellason had been on my radar for a while. Almost bought their Coverall jacket in orange back in March but successfully resisted. When I saw this one, it just immediately clicked. More so than the Shipjohn Ramblin actually. So I searched it up on their webpage. Noticed the measurements in size medium were ideal. Then saw it has hand warmer pockets AND INTERIOR POCKETS?!? From there I knew I was done for. Do I need an other denim jacket? Do I need an other chore coat?

@Chibs I agree on the hand warmer pockets. I’m forever with my hands in my pockets. At first I wasn’t sure about the lack of chest pockets for a chore coat. But then I learned about the WWII era work coats and how this Montana jacket was styled after that design and it just took seed.
I find Tellason has many strengths, but product photography is not one of them. They used to be even worse. Just a couple bad, flat lay shots. In hand, their pieces are always so much better than the photos convey. This jacket took fit and build quality way beyond the website pics in my opinion.
Plus, for me, the white oak denim is just so historic…a perfect match for a classic era chore coat.

@Mizmazzle you make a good point regarding photos. Yours had me checking them out on their webpage. Had you posted their photos instead, I don’t think I’d be out the 300$.

I’ve wanted a coverall jacket in the white oak for years now. Still haven’t found one. Finally broke down and nabbed the 16.5oz kaihara version. Gotta say, I LOVE this thing.

@Mizmazzle I have a Cone Topper, which is the best denim shirt I've owned. However, through a commitment to a bad diet and lifestyle, I have had to size up.
I am on wash two of the Kaihara version and I am impressed. Tellason have done a great job to sourcing an equivalent demin of weight, quality and aesthetics in my ignorant opinion.

@Bridger I have one of the cone topper denim shirts. Great weight for sure. I’m more a fan of their clampdown pattern personally. But Tellason are hard to beat for value. Construction details are not up to the IH standard. But I still dig some of their core pieces.
I will say this. That zippered work jacked I have is built like a tank.

In mine i can haul 4 kids worth of snacks, drinks etc...with room to spare
