for $500 to $900 you can probably get a cheap body and a decent wide angle lens..pick up a tripod with some bubble levels on it or buy a bubble level that attaches into the hot shoe..square your camera up around chest height for starters. put it on iso 100 or 200, Aperture priority (AV) and let the shutter speed fall wherever. no flash. that's about all the tips i can give you without getting real technical.What do you think? Would this be a good start?

Yeah, agreed. I shouldn't have recommended a tilt shift lens though haha, my bad on that. I realized after I said that that it was a pro lens. But a wide angle lens should be good. Personally I would invest in a good one though if you know you will be doing this type of photography for sure.

Yeah, really josh that is some insane work! I am loving the colors of the photos and kind of all the photos!
Finn- loving that sharpness in the picture.. I just realized that is one hell of a sharp picture! Whats bugging me though is the brightness of it though, the right side is kind of drawing my eye away from the face.
Got ya…was pretty hard to get this one to a good pic since her hair reflected all the sun and that what`s left actually so it was impossible (at least for me!) to darken the "frame" that the whole pic would still look good...but i know what ya thinking. thanks!

^Yeah, I got what you mean. But gerat purchases! What tripod is that? I have one but it is a piece of shit and I wasted $70 on it. Also let me know about how that remote is I wanna get one but don't feel like paying $100 for one.

Tripod is from Cullmann (Magnesit 519)…nothing expensive so i hope it suits my needs! btw. does anybody know what hight a good tripod should have?...this one goes up to 5'30"
about the remote i haven`t checked reviews or other things, just went for it...also nothing expensive. pai about 65$ for it...hopefully it does the trick

Well, I took it as a RAW shot. I then in photoshop touched it up a bit, and set the exposure to +2,+1,0,-1,-2, then I save them as that (5 separate pictures). Then I went into photomatix pro converted it to B&W, then edited from there. The light around the truck is the halo effect, I am unsure what exact settings I had but yeah, it just is a halo around it (easy to create it).
Edit: Yeah, I want it cause of the head and it looks to be a pretty steady tri-pod. I don't mind spending that kind of money on it as long as it last a while and if it is steady. The problem with mine is if I take a long exposure shots lets say the tripod head shakes a bit and it pisses me the feck off.
