I am not judging anyone on here, but just saying not everyone is going to like my music. But I love it.
The genre of music I like is classified as 'Djent'. Basically it is a very similar style of playing to jazz in terms of the playing. The drums (which draws me in) uses 4/4 notes, 7/4 notes, and similar to jazz drumming, as they share the use of numerous ghost notes and a constant, steady pulse. Either way this is one of my favorite bands, also if you like these guys check out Born Of Osiris, Veil Of Maya, Animals As Leaders (they're instrumental so no screaming).

If you go to youtube and google that in there is also an instrumental (of the whole album), the music is just insane. Not everyone seems to like the vocals though, but personally I love them. Meshuggah is also another band and I don't think it is possible to reproduce the drums as the drummer is beyond insane.
Btw, Black metal scares the shit out of me, yet I am half norwegian. Go figure. Anyways Black Metal IMO just doesn't sound good to me, it is usually too fast and I can't follow.

Personally I like it if there are clean vocals in songs… That doesn't mean I don't like it when there is just raw screaming in the song... But when i hear black metal it just doesn't turn me on when I am listening to it. That being said I also like a lot of lighter stuff, more so underground bands since I HATE pop.

Well there's tons of different Black Metal I guess… I don't listen to the old school Norwegian/ Scandi stuff at all... 99 % of the albums I listen to are "3rd wave", 2000 and younger...
So let me be curious and ask you what BM you've listened to?..
The drumming on the 2nd video isn't that spectacular btw... You should give CROWPATH 'SUN OF SULPHUR' a listen...

It's more math and less metal, but the drums are insane..
Then there's FUNERAL MIST 'SALVATION'… Has some crazy drums as well and it's the most brutal BM album you'll encounter imo:

Well, I couldn't name band names cause I haven't really listened to black metal to the point I love the bands. I forget stuff if I just don't really like it. But the drumming might not sound that insane but it is all technical unlike black metal which is just mainly blast beats and really really fast drumming. I mean that the drummer in the second video will literally have a 4/4 note on the drum, 7/4 note on the bass drum and a really odd time signature on the cymbals..
Crowpath definitely sounds like mathcore more so than black metal. Have you ever heard of the Dillinger escape plan? They are pretty insane… I mean insane... literally.
Funeral mist I just listenend now on iTunes and can successfully say I will never be listening to them again hahaha. That for me was just unpleasant but to each his own.
