Package secured! Super pumped to get this one. There was only 5 in my size too, I imagine this will go quick.

I am a size 10 in Red Wing, and I also take a 10 in Wesco, Wesco generally equal to Red Wing, do you know your brannock size? Wesco Boots will be often be 1 to 1.5 sizes down from from your branock device measurement or your US sneaker size.
Hope that helps

They arrived! You know what, I think the black with the warm weft looks good.
Feels softer, definitely easier to get on too.
Time to beat up a new pair.
The brown behind it officially have a year of wear this month.

Ordered... Very, very excited. Cheers..

I'm here to admit to some serious FOMO. I've long lusted after the Mr. Lou, especially in CXL. Alas, my feet simply do not fit into the boots as constructed. I even made a trip to Wesco HQ to try on a few sizes. No dice. Actually, that's not true. I swore. A lot. And managed to break a sweat. I did get one pair one but I think it was way too long.
In any case, these are absolutely killer boots, and the pictures posted are excellent. Enjoy, please (because I can't)!

@Bobcat-Sig get measured and go custom. I did 17 years ago and haven’t regretted it at all…
-
@goosehd You totally stole my thunder.
I ended up doing just that. I couldn't get the same midsole as what's part of the Mr Lou, which meant a different heel stack, but everything else was as close as it could be. And despite being custom-measured, the boots just don't fit all that well. They are almost too wide, and the heel slip has never abated. They do look great, though. I'll go dig out a picture...
-
While they’re coming along, the heel creases give me an indication that the boot is too big. I think. Wesco enlarged the shaft and added a bit to the instep to accommodate my wide forefoot and high instep.
Similar details to the Mr Lou, save for the heel stack and height, which I was told wasn’t possible in the build.
Otherwise, I do like them.

@Bobcat-Sig Their custom program does (at least used to) allow for twerks to get the fit right. Did you go back and work with them?
Also used to be able to update your measurements once in a while to allow for growth, fallen arches, widening of feet, etc.
I don’t know if they still do, but it may be worth taking them back and seeing what they can do. If I was in their backyard, I would be there enough that my wife would file divorce papers…
-
@goosehd lol! A man after my own heart.
During the build, there was a fit with the upper. And admittedly, I wasn’t sure what to check for with respect to fit. Mainly, as newbie, I wanted to be sure it wasn’t too tight. And this was all during the pandemic, so lots of variables.
I’m a little ashamed to even admit that I was mostly clueless. Chris at Wesco helped me through out the process, so maybe an email is in order.
Great suggestion. Thank you.
-
@Bobcat-Sig Chris is awesome!!! Definitely give him a ring/email and try and explain what’s going on. He’ll try and get you in the right direction and hope to see you wearing a pair of Wesco’s that you love.
It will be very worth it in the end when everything clicks.
Good luck!

Fwiw I also didn't have good luck with custom fit sheet. They just couldn't get a low enough instep volume to work in combination with the length and toe height I need with my foot. After one rebuild they very politely apologized and thanked me for everything and issued a refund.
It's so confusing because a bone stock set of 9D is so close other than the toes. Thankfully I still have those and they fit ok but I'd really love to find a better fitting brand for me.
-
@pechelman Interesting. There may be some limitations with patterning, lasts, and soles. Though I’m no shoemaker, that was brought during the build I mentioned a few posts up. Maybe in your particular boot or chosen leather, the measurements just don’t work?
Bummer it didn’t work for you, but super cool for Wesco to make things right with a refund.
For me, and what frustrates me about engineer style boots is that I can find several brands of cowboy boots that fit me, requiring no custom builds. Both style of boots are similar with their shape. Granted, there are differences in construction, but nearly all cowboy boots won’t crush my high instep like some engineers do. And Cowboys tend to break in and allow for plenty of walking with lots of comfort. My Wesco Engineers will blister my heels in short order.
