@SFMCfranky love the 916. I had a V2 Panigale up until a few weeks back. A great bike, but a bit more than I could sensibly use on the road.

When I bought the 916 back in ‘95 I said “The supersport stall in my stable has been filled.” It’s still true.

      Rubber side down, brother.

        @SFMCfranky beautiful machine!

@NickD i loved looking at my Streefighter V2 but hated feeling like I was toasting my crotch when temps >80F

Made the switch to BMW. While I miss the rowdiness of the Duc, that german precision is unexpectedly charming

Still holding out for a Duc that doesnt run hot in the city!

Yeah, not really designed for a stop and go situation. More like Go Go Go!

          I still have a 2005 R1200GS that I bought new. It’s my long distance tourer. I had a 1988 K75S and a 94 R100GS. So I am well versed in BMWs. I wish I still had that R100GS.

The Panigale wasn’t too bad from a heat point of view, it doesn’t get that hot in the UK, but it didn’t make much sense going slowly. I enjoyed owning it but I’m not a track rider so don’t need anything faster than my Thruxton R.

yeah the Ducati's definitely run hot. but so beautiful on track or an open highway.. I remember testing the v4 on a panigale before deciding on the street fighter. sweating and almost giving up

@NickD Even a V2 is overkill? No plans on taking it to the track. I still have a V2 or V4 in my mind though.

@Dmart on the road, in the UK, yes. It doesn’t really come alive until about 60mph, below that it’s not very comfortable. Amazing when you’ve got an open road and are willing to treat speed limits as advisory but even then you’re mostly just using the midrange power.

There will be those that can ride V2s and V4s flat out on the road but they’ve either got bigger balls or less sense than me.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great bike and I loved owning it but it wasn’t a long term love for me.

@NickD That’s very valuable input as I was afraid of exactly that. As much as I love the bikes, I won’t be able to actually use them as one should and would be in 1st gear the majority of the time. Still, I would love a fun bike that has a good amount of power but doesn’t feel underwhelmed on regular roads and that you can still rev a bit.
Should complement the Harley’s as my cruiser.

@jimcasey same here on the V85TT feelings.
After 21000 km she has pleased me on every task i’ve thrown at her. I also love it’s local uniqueness and gladly accept the extra mile of work required when doing maintenance: sourcing consumables and ordering add-ons internationally.
I’ve added the full GTM exhaust kit with Autotune and Power Commander and very happy with the results even if it is a pricey decision. Especially the cooler running engine. Going on a 220 km mountain ride later today with 3 buddies. It’ll be quite a mix: Ducati DesertX, Husqvarna Svartpilen, Triumph Explorer 1200, CFMoto 450 and my V85. Wish you a nice weekend ride!

@motojobobo thanks for moving this to the right thread. Mine now at the 25K mark, and with hindsight I reckon it was around 15K that the engine really settled into itself. I got rid of the CAT and popped a Mistral exhaust system on it, with some better tyres for dirt, and couldn't be happier. Ride safe mate.
