IHSH-330-ODG - 9oz Raised Whipcord Western Shirt - Olive Drab Green
-
Material is too good on this one!

-
I bought a "Military Serge" second-hand, and the IHSH-330-ODG arrived. Well, I should say, this was one of the best "mistakes". Fabric is incredibly comfy, beautiful, fit in my standard L is spot on, and I can say that shirt became a fav within a day.
Now I want the black one too...
(No seriously, I am super super in love with this thing) -
This fabric is very much underrated. The black one was my first IH purchase.

will we see a restock of these @ShopatIronHeart ?
-
@Freeman what's the url for this one?
-
@AdamJ how can i sign up for a restock notification?

While on a deep dive for the olive drab kersey knit western shirt, I stumbled upon this shirt. It looks super interesting. But I'm a little confused about sizing; some say it's snugger than normal, while others say their usual IH shirt size is spot on.
I'm usually a L in the work shirt cut, and either an L or XL in the western shirt, depending on that particular garment's cut and the fabric used. I'm leaning toward XL on this shirt because the whipcord seems to be unforgiving. Am I on the right track with that through process?

@Bobcat-Sig yep. I’m usually a large in most everything IH, and this one is no exception however, it’s the slimmest size large I own and I’ve been very careful with washing. I’d say go xl if you can find one. Hope this helps!
-
I have the black version (now pretty grey) in XL and it fits very much like my IHSH-33t in L.
-
@RobeOfTheMagi curious if yours has maintained the “fluffy” texture?

It does, thank you. Since the product is now extinct, using the IH parlance, their measurements are lost to the aether, so my only size chart I can find is that from Self Edge. Based on that, the XL is quite big, with a 46" chest and an L coming in at 44.5" Do you find yours like that or to be smaller? (I'm guessing smaller)

Interesting. I'm glad I asked about fit because I would have wrongly assumed that the shirt fits large.

I too am curious as this is my first whipcord shirt. Or anything, for that matter.
-
@Bobcat-Sig I think mine is a little snugger than that. Maybe 44” p2p.

In fact the parts that are exposed to a lot of abrasion haven't maintained the fluff :/. But the shirt really doesn't look like on day one in any way anymore :).

To my understanding "raised whipcord" is a brushed version of the regular whipcord fabric. A new shirt will feel like moleskin or corduroy without the ripples. In that sense it feels much different from the regular whipcord, which is smooth. However, my shirt got smoother and has a way less brushed hand now.

I'm careful with mine, only gentle handwash with moderate temperatures so far, hang dry. Want to keep it as it is as long as possible. However, I agree with @neph93 , IH stuff generally ages wonderfully.
If you don't take that washing advice seriously, it'll end up looking like this:
