new to photography so i'm having a hard time choosing which one to buy between the Sony 35mm F1.8 or 40mm F2.5. Its mainly for travelling/street photos so the 40mm is more compact but 35mm has better bokeh from reviews i read online.

I'm not really familiar with the specific lenses you're asking about, but in general I'd say 35. It's a little faster, is a little wider, you'll be able to hand hold in lower light easier, it's more "standard", and has a larger dof for zone focusing.

In general, 40s tend to be thinner and sometimes more affordable. I've never seen a 40 that produced images that were objectively better than the next closest 35 or 50, only ones that are good deals, sleeper values, or amazing for their size. Often their size also compromises handling of the focus and aperture settings. They're usually a niche lens.

Personally, I dislike both 35 and 40mm focal lengths and prefer 50 and 28.

This beautiful bridge with 33 stone arches is one of my favorite places in Isfahan, Iran. People meet there to enjoy the sunset, to talk to have fun. Friday is a special day because many people gather here unter the bridge in the cold shadow to sing together and to have fun. I also met an Iranian women from the north of Iran and just look at her amazing green eyes.

New camera day. I’ve been getting frustrated with the bulk of my Canon slr and will try a new approach: small body, single prime fixed lens, new ecosystem… The camera itself is very pretty and well made.
