Highly appropriate that Iron Heart stickers age beautifully when put on a phone case that spends most of its time coming in and out of the back pocket of my Iron Heart jeans.

My 5-year old IHGB-01 brown gloves show a nice patina and worn in look at this point. They get frequent but light wear as I only use them for around town riding.

I’ve never cleaned, washed or oiled them. The leather is super pliable and they are superbly comfy on the bike. The tear was a total surprise. I never saw it coming so it may have been caused by a sudden strong tug in some weird and unnoticed circumstance.

@Mizmazzle not immediately. Planning on seeing whether it worsens or stays put, and then decide. But I have plenty of leather workers (none high quality) around town.

I’m ok at sewing minor things with common cotton repairs: buttons, patches. Thank you!

@motojobobo no tutorial as such, but I'll see if I can explain it well enough.

You need an offcut/patch of leather first, any ok quality leather will do.

If the gloves are unlined then use contact adhesive to glue the smooth side of the patch to the back of the tear, and then close up the tear - if done neatly it should look a lit better.

If the gloves are unlined then you need to feed the patch through the tear, then glue through the tear while it's in situ, or unstitch the lining a little and glue it in through the gap.

You can then add a few stitches if you think it needs it. I've repaired leather jackets and shoes this way and it's been pretty successful.

They are lined so sentence # 4 applies to my case. My next immediate step is to source a thin and pliable piece of leather to try this out.
                                      Any recs on adhesives?
                                      Thank you @NickD !

@motojobobo you'll need a flexible contact adhesive. I've used UHU but just because I already had it, not because it was the best glue for the job!
