I would say slightly softer, but clearly that is a pretty subjective measure

Got mine in yesterday, and am really impressed. Been wanting a great all-season black western that can fade, and this one checks the boxes. Really comfortable, soft and pliable, but still some crispness to it. For anyone on the fence, hoping this gives you the nudge!

@mjdnm cool! How warm is this shirt? I’m in Texas so just wondering at what temp it might start to be uncomfortable. That will determine how many months per year I could wear this beautiful shirt! Thanks

@denimdad it doesn't feel much heavier than my 12oz IHSH-33-IND. Just a bit starchier, which I'm sure will eventually go away with wear. So I bet you'd get a lot of wear out of it!

@mjdnm thanks! How would you describe the fabric? Trying to understand the description a bit more. Fabric there’s always my favorite thing about Ironheart

@denimdad it's packed away at the moment (I'm in the midst of a move) so I can't get to it to really inspect it. But, offhand: I'd say it's a nice midweight that feels substantial, with some starchiness to it. I have both a 12oz indigo, and a 16oz SBG, and it falls much more in line with the 12oz. However, it's a bit more rigid, a bit more dense feeling, but still comfortable and pliable, to where I expect it to really break in and become soft and supple over time, much like the 12oz shirts.

I picked this shirt up in the fall and I dig it. The red stitching is sweet and it was the deciding factor over the Johnny Cash.

However, I'm struggling with fit. I ended with with an XL, despite usually fitting into L Iron Heart UHF. I went with the XL for the pit-to-pit room, and even with XL, that still feels tight. For those of you that have plenty of wears on these; has the shirt loosened up much at all?

The other niggle I have is the sleeve length. While I expect it to shorten a bit with wears as the fabric wrinkles, they are noticeably too long, which is usually the opposite for me. Have any of you had success with shortening or tailoring the sleeve length?

For those of that have washed your shirts (I have yet to do so), did you experience any shrinkage?

I ask because in hoping for some in the sleeves and the length of the shirt.

@Bobcat-Sig I did not notice much shrinking, but I just did like a cold wash and hang dry. I took it to a tailor where they shorten all my IH sleeves. Costs like $30.

@Bobcat-Sig I just saw this after responding to your latest post in this thread. As I mentioned, I’ve shortened the sleeves on almost all my Iron Heart shirts. My only regret was not doing it sooner.

I researched the best denim tailors in America and it was very expensive to mail these shirts out to get altered. So I held back, reluctant to drop another hundred dollars per shirt. Then I just took it to my local place in Austin and they did a fantastic job for $30ish each. I started with one to test, but the place (Art Alterations) had great reviews.

The one tiny downside is the pleat at the cuff might be slightly more pronounced, but honestly, you just don’t notice it after a while. Still totally worth it not to have oversized sleeves.

I love everything about Iron Heart shirts, except this one issue of sleeve length. I’m not a Japanese motorcycle dude, so far be it from me to complain. So I’m just trying to make these beautiful garments as perfect for me as I can.
