Something got them eggs again. The feathering was ripped out and I found no trace of them but a shell fragment. Nature is red in tooth and nail.

I came home last night after being out all day, and the landscapers cut Josie's tree nearly in half when they pruned it. The nest, although wonky, is no more. So glad the baby fledged a few days ago! I would have been devastated if someone unknowingly decided to prune a tree and kill a baby hummingbird in the process.

A wild turkey hen and chick walking along the fence line outside of my kitchen window this afternoon.

Meet Evil Josie. We watched her build this nest over the course of a few days, and she's VERY territorial. Imagine going outside to do laundry (I know this might sound weird to a lot of people in and of itself, but that's where our laundry is) and getting buzzing fly-bys from a mama hummingbird trying to protect here turf. She makes it very clear that this is her area.
We're having a baby! She made her nest right next to a growing lime.
