So, Alden Indy or Wolverine 1k in Black?

I'd go for the 1000 Miles.  Never liked the moc toe stitching on the Indy.

Which black Indy/which sole?
Calf? Shell? Chromexcel?
Commando? Leather?

I have the Indy in a black aniline calf with commando sole and really like them. But they look a little dressy for jeans. I wear them with chinos. They have a little sheen to them.

I think the black chromexcel would be a better choice with denim. With contrast stitching.

+1 it's a close choice but the 1k mile is significantly less expensive (tie breaker)

Better quality these days, too.  Newer Grensons not made in the UK, friends have had some QC issues unfortunately.

Can't wait for the McNairy "Fuck Off" collection to come out.
