@CosmoSix5 It looks great on you. What makes you think the sleeves are short? I think the sleeves hit right at the sweet spot on your wrists. All personal preference of course.
I gave mine a soak over the weekend. I didn’t get any before or after measurements, but it definitely feels like it fits better for me. The sleeves were still a bit long for me, so I cuffed it about an inch.
P.S. Wearing a white t shirt with the sashiko is a brave move!

@caithangkhanh it's my crocking shirt. The back and armpits are
.

Looks good @CosmoSix5 ... Mine (supply jacket as well) arrived today. For science, my XL went from too large to (I'm hoping) just about right after hot/cold wash and a short time in dryer on medium/low
The leather badge on the inside is now blank lmao, but that's not really something I give many f's about. Currently air drying for the remainder.

@anodyne let me know how your sleeves do with the shrinking
-
@CosmoSix5 Will do, though I didn't take before photos or measurements. The shoulders were a bit large, and the chest even larger. The sleeves were longer than I wanted, and the arms too baggy for my taste. Wearing it damp, I hope the sleeves don't shorten much further as they are just about perfect now imo. They don't seem to be quite as short on me (with arms raised) as yours. I didn't seem to lose much color with my abuse, but the shine (which I really wasn't into) is gone.

This sashiko fabric is not... Great. I can't lie. The 21oz IH shirt I have drapes and looks great. Day 1. This jacket(much lighter fabric!) is like wearing a a paper bag. Nothing's soft on it. I'm going to give it until the modified 526 re-stocks to decide if I'll keep it or not. Two days of wear isn't a lot, but I doubt it's chances lol. Iron Heart spoils a guy I guess. I've broken in jackets before, this is it's own thing. It's worse since I soaked it.(Hung till damp then worn to dry)
Edit: it looks boring too... I'd call it black not indigo. Paper bag is more fair than cardboard. Changed.

@CosmoSix5 it does look somewhat lifeless, hopefully it comes to life with some wear and tear?
Iron Heart definitely spoils a guy though, I’ve tried a few different brands since my IH addiction started and literally the only things that haven’t been quickly sold on are t-shirts.
I’ve purchased a lot of shirts from other brands and none of them look right after wearing Iron Heart. -
@CosmoSix5 haha it is stiff when new but promise it evolves dramatically and becomes very soft over time.
-
@CosmoSix5 I get what you mean. When I first received it, I noticed that the fabric wasn’t as… “substantial” as I was anticipating, especially compared to IH. That being said, after seeing the fade potential, I was committed.
I gave it a soak over the weekend, and it fits much better than when I first received it. After wearing just for a couple days, it feels like the creases on the sleeves have already set. I’ve also noticed some very minor fading in some of the high wear areas.

I'll have to put it in the dryer or gain 15lbs+. Did your sleeves shrink noticeably?
-
@CosmoSix5 Yeah, I would be careful as the sleeve length looks good for you as it is. I wish I had taken measurements and before photos ... I'd guess the sleeve length shrunk almost 1 inch? Mostly, the sleeves seemed way too baggy before the hot wash (and a bit of dryer). The jacket was just too big all around, but I'm satisfied after the wash/dry. I also really didn't like the general sheen of it and rather lifeless look of it as was mentioned. I was pretty unhappy when I took it out of the bag as well, but it's a keeper for me now ... not up to IH specs, but that's a very high bar. If you machine wash it, also be prepared for the "Sashiko" cloth patch to fray ... it's not coming off yet, but the edges are quite ragged and frayed up to the stitches. Just like the leather patch, not something I really care about, but if you do ...
-
@CosmoSix5 Without taking any before or after measurements, I’d say the sleeves shortened about 1-1.25 inches. The thing that was most noticeable for me was how the arms, shoulders, and chest tightened up a bit. The jacket went from loose and flowy to more fitted, which I prefer. Also, I hot soaked and hang dried mine vs. putting it in the washer and dryer.
