IH-822-IND - Double Knee 21oz Selvedge Denim Engineer's Pants - Indigo
-
After reading this thread I began my search for a pair of IH-822-IND. Back in December 2024 I found a pair for sale by a member on this forum for a great price. They mentioned buying them from another forum member and only wore them a few times before they were sold to me for lack of use. That makes me the third (at least) owner of these fine pants. They finally found a forever home!
I’ve worn them as much as I can. I wore them to work in construction a handful of times. But I fell in love with these pants and stopped wearing them to work in fear of destroying them with adhesives and paint. I’ve worn them at some point in the day practically every day since I received them. They get daily wear, but just not entire 8-10 hour work days unfortunately.
It’s starting to consistently be in the 90s here in Austin, Tx. So no more wearing these outside for me. I wear them around the house and in the evenings and I can still wear them out for a run to the store. Now after sweating in them a few times, they are starting to feel dirty when I put them on. So all signs are pointing to giving them their first wash in my possession. I don’t think these have ever been washed, judging by the feel of the denim and the amount of indigo they bleed onto my hands whenever I wear them.
Today I did a pre-wash photoshoot in the back yard with the bright sun out. My plan is to soak them in hot tap water with some simple detergent. Hand wash them the first go around. Then eventually move on to delicate machine washes.

@Danimal506 yours are coming along so nicely!! Love all the extra fade patterns that come with the double knee. So many nooks and crevices to develop.
-
@Mizmazzle Yea right! And there is so much stitching that adds details everywhere.
-
@Danimal506 cool ass belt btw!
-
@Mizmazzle Thank you! I got it at Allen’s Boots here in Austin on a trip visiting with friends for F1 back in 2017. Long before I moved here.
I think the one thing I miss on the 822s is a leather patch.

@Danimal506 I can second that...I just love a leather patch.
-
@Danimal506 outstanding man and glad they found their”forever” home. Keep us posted how they do with the wash. They really do develop some unique fades.

@Danimal506 i love the work pant cut and have several whipcord trousers. didn‘t find the double fronts very appealing at first, but that is changing rapidly.
-
I just put them in the hot bath. With a little help from my buddy.
And a couple quick inside out shots.
-
@tody I have yet to try the whipcords, I need to.
-
@Danimal506 it’s nice to have a helper!

After a little over an hour in the tub and a strong agitation at the 30 minute mark, they’re now hanging outside for a drip dry.
