IH-822-IND - Double Knee 21oz Selvedge Denim Engineer's Pants - Indigo

@SKT That definitely looks like some ideal horse riding country. Enjoy your time there!

I just got my 822s hemmed after a year of wearing them cuffed and losing the roping hurt a little bit…
-
@Denman-John oh I bet. I do think cuffing is what brings out the best roping. I don’t cuff my other jeans and they don’t have that beautiful clean roping. More tattered and ragged looking.
-
@Mizmazzle I have a theory that the triple stitching creates more tension but no proof. They really do get awesome roping though so there has to be a reason. More than my other 21 OG
-
@Mizmazzle thanks man and yes…one wash and dry when I got them and one wash after wearing fall/winter. Love em and hope you’re enjoying yours.
-
@SKT Looks good dude! Especially the back of the knees. I’m almost at that point myself. I’m wearing them as much as possible at home as the temps start to hit 90+ outside.
-
@Danimal506 90’s
I’m way too much of a delicate flower to keep these going in the heat. How much longer do you think you can keep at it?
-
@Mizmazzle I bet you’ll be ok and of course these deserve a special trip

They’re in the wash now and I’ll post some more after they dry.
I’ll have to bear in mind the long drying time when I come to wash mine…

@Mister_Brue hahah...I've been waiting on those post pics too.
-
@Mister_Brue weeks!
Honestly the changes were so subtle I hesitated to post more
-
@SKT I only wear them inside the house, not outside hahah I can’t do heat either. Luckily we keep the AC blowing and so I can keep my fades going lol
They’ve gotten a little bit of Texas sun on days when I chanced it, but man I break a sweat walking from the car into the gas station.

Link to a post I just made about the 822's little brother... posted here for purposes of comparison.

After reading this thread I began my search for a pair of IH-822-IND. Back in December 2024 I found a pair for sale by a member on this forum for a great price. They mentioned buying them from another forum member and only wore them a few times before they were sold to me for lack of use. That makes me the third (at least) owner of these fine pants. They finally found a forever home!
I’ve worn them as much as I can. I wore them to work in construction a handful of times. But I fell in love with these pants and stopped wearing them to work in fear of destroying them with adhesives and paint. I’ve worn them at some point in the day practically every day since I received them. They get daily wear, but just not entire 8-10 hour work days unfortunately.
It’s starting to consistently be in the 90s here in Austin, Tx. So no more wearing these outside for me. I wear them around the house and in the evenings and I can still wear them out for a run to the store. Now after sweating in them a few times, they are starting to feel dirty when I put them on. So all signs are pointing to giving them their first wash in my possession. I don’t think these have ever been washed, judging by the feel of the denim and the amount of indigo they bleed onto my hands whenever I wear them.
Today I did a pre-wash photoshoot in the back yard with the bright sun out. My plan is to soak them in hot tap water with some simple detergent. Hand wash them the first go around. Then eventually move on to delicate machine washes.

@Danimal506 yours are coming along so nicely!! Love all the extra fade patterns that come with the double knee. So many nooks and crevices to develop.
