Any one have experience with Goruck? In terms of everyday use, how does the GR2 compare to the GR1? I'm not sure if I want to go for large or mid.

what characteristic(s) of a denim lead to pronounced vertical falling?

G, you said you expect this from the new 25oz denim
Ring Ring also said he expected this (or pronounced vertical striation maybe he said, maybe thats something different?) from the 14oz LHT of his self edge/FH collab
two quite different denims these are
and it's said of many other jeans as well, Flat Heads in particular

so I'm interested in which characteristics of a denim give this "feature"

Vertical falling (fading) is caused by slubs in the warp (indigo) yarn. With wear, the slubs suffer more abrasion than the flat of the yarn, so they will stand out like rain drops on surface. You can see vertical lines in raw denim, these will appear as vertical fade as the denim fades.

Goruck is sturdy as hell & they stand with their product if you have any issues with it. I can't say which size to go with really depends on your needs.

I'm going to conjecture a guess. Maybe the Samurai discussion (relating to Beautiful_Freak) bummed Denim Sailor out because he loves Sams…I dunno, just guessing. Also, all forums tend to be addictive...a real waste of time. We can't blame the forum...we can only blame ourselves. Sometimes the best way to detox is to deactivate the account so as to not tempt yourself. I've been down this road so I understand...I'm sure DS will return when he's good and ready, just like I did. When he returns, he'll manage his forum addiction more constructively. The IH forum is considerably more addictive than SuFu IMHO...cuz it's so much more personal and human.
