POTEN WINTER COLLECTION OF JAPANESE BASEBALL CAPS

This season we see Poten doing two fitted caps in a 100% work canvas and one adjustable cap in indigo denim and cowhide. These hats are crazy nice, nicer than any other straight ahead baseball cap we've ever seen. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every cap style has a super soft and supple inner leather headband which has been lightly treated so it’s not destroyed by sweat.

The caps have zero exterior branding except for the stitches which you can see from the top of the crown from the interior branding tags being sewn into the center of the crown. The cap has a medium height crown and the brim has a medium length to it with 19 concentric stitches which feel and look pretty cool in person. SEUVAS COFFEE-DYED CAPSULE COLLECTION
Seuvas brings us a new coffee dyed capsule collection taking three garments and presenting them in a subtle shade of “coffee” by garment dying them in spent coffee grounds from local cafes in their region of Japan. We have a beautiful 23oz herringbone canvas trucker jacket and two different medium weight canvas shirts, all three naturally dyed in a subtle "coffee" color and finished with a special edition version of the Seuvas porcelain button, this one with little tiny coffee beans hand painted onto the button.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Seuvas is a brand dedicated to the art of producing canvas of all weights. They own their own canvas looms and factory which produces their canvas exactly to their specifications for the right look and texture. They even cut and sew all the garments in their own workshop in Kurashiki, Japan using vintage sewing machines so that the canvas reacts with just the right amount of puckering at the seams. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The only exterior branding on their garments is a single hand-made porcelain button made from clay ore (Amakusa pottery stone) mined in Amakusa City, Kimamoto prefecture, Japan. Amakusa pottery stone is a historic pottery stone that is a raw material which has been used in Japanese pottery since the 17th century. These porcelain buttons are designed by Seuvas and made in the traditional way in Amakusa.

MASAHIRO MARUYAMA WINTER COLLECTION OF EYEWEAR
This week we have four eyewear releases from Masahiro Maruyama’s new collection. All four are made of Japanese titanium and acetate and come with tinted Carl Zeiss lenses with each frame's lens color matching the frame to the designer's specifications. As always, these lenses can be swapped out for prescription lenses by any optician.
All four of these frames are quite unique and the attention to detail in both design and material finish is top notch, truly he's pushing the boundaries of eyewear design and manufacturing.

DEVOA X INCARNATION PIECE-DYED HORSEHIDE BOOTS
Devoa x Incarnation Piece-Dyed Horsehide Boots, they’re here. ⠀

These boots are a collaboration between INCARNATION of Italy and DEVOA of Japan. Devoa provided the design and wooden lasts while INCARNATION was in charge of the shoemaking, dyeing, treatment, and oiling process. After the boot is constructed it’s object-dyed black then “cured” in a special oil which gives the horsehide a deep sheen. With repeated wear over time the leather surface will acquire a glossy shine and the wearer’s creases will become visible on the surface. ⠀⠀

SAMURAI INDIGO WINTER SHIRTS & OTOKOGI DENIM JEANS
The new NATURAL BORN KILLERS and REPHLEX Samurai winter shirts pull out all the stops.
The NBK flannel is a heavy and soft flannel that's been indigo dyed with a sulfur top for an indigo/black look complete with engraved indigo dyed buttons with absolutely perfect construction; they've nailed every element of this thing. This flannel will fade and age as a pair of jeans would over time with regular wear and washing.Samurai’s REPHLEX natural indigo-dyed dobby work shirt is made of a Japanese indigo/black spotted dobby fabric. Aiming for a color tone that resembles layering black dye over indigo fabric, Samurai used thread dyed with a combination of natural and synthetic indigo dyes, plus black thread, and then adjusted the number of thread colors that appear on the surface through weaving to achieve the desired color tones. Compared to both synthetic and natural indigo-dyed threads, black threads are pigment dyed so they don’t fade easily, as the fabric fades the dotted pattern will become more prominent.
We also have the 15oz Otogoki indigo denim in both a classic straight leg and slim tapered fit, available at all stores along with these new shirts.

SUGAR CANE NEP DENIM COLLECTION & MORE
Nep denim jeans and jackets from Sugar Cane have landed. Made of a Sugar Cane original 13.7oz. indigo neppy denim featuring a warp yarn of rope-dyed indigo and a weft yarn of grey with colored nep. The jeans feature double knees only at the knee area and have some interesting tool pockets attached to both legs. The jacket features pre-war changeable buttons, a 3-in-1 pocket on the left chest, and adjustable cuffs.
Sugar Cane’s Okinawa and Hawaii jeans are finally back in stock. The mill producing this denim had some issues running the fabric last year so no retailer had this model in stock for well over a year. They’re finally back, but Sugar Cane has stated going forward they will not be available year round and will only be produced once a year.

Merz b. Schwanen vintage jersey knitting machine tees are finally here! This a new model knit on a knitting machine from the 1960’s, still produced in their own factory in Germany. These tees are the vintage knitting machine version of the iconic 215 loopwheeled t-shirt; these are a hair lighter in weight and have side seams compared to the 215 t-shirt. These are available now in black and white.

NEW STEVENSON OVERALL CO. COLLECTION
A new collection from Stevenson Overall Co. is here.
First up, their Absolutely Amazing merino wool thermal shirts are back, available in new colors, and now available up to size XXXL! Anyone who's been following Self Edge for a while knows that this is one of the top ten things we've ever carried, and we have Stevenson Overall make them for us every year or two in new colors. These are made of a Japanese spun certified mulesing-free fine merino wool, they’re extremely soft and can be worn in both cold and somewhat warm climates due to the natural temperature regulating properties of merino wool.
We also have crew neck sweaters featuring a vivid Nordic pattern, combining a chunky texture with a versatile silhouette. The wool used is spun to be lightweight and air-filled, aka Lofty High-Loft Wool, providing high insulation. Each strand has an air layer, offering both warmth and a unique, vibrant texture.
With the Maverick jacket SOC have reimagined the third generation of the denim jacket; this unique design features front pleats for mobility and flap pockets. The front yoke line forms a subtle V-shape toward the center and is complemented by the shape of the pockets. The jacket is made of an original SOC developed sanforized (but raw) 14.5oz selvedge denim, is rope-dyed with slub yarns, and woven on vintage shuttle looms.

These are two new in-house designed models made of a narrower leather compared to the normal 1.75” wide belts we carry. These are made of a black cowhide with black burnished edges and finished with hand applied oxidized nickel studs and a nickel plated steel buckle.

NEW SAMURAI JEANS, CHINOS, AND BAKER PANTS
We've just received the new Samurai S3100VX jean in a relaxed straight fit from the World War II era, made of their famed 17oz Zero+ denim. The silhouette is a new one based on their WWII model S3000VX, with a slightly longer rise and a slightly wider top block. The buttons are newly created to mimic the color of "shakudo" metal with a well-worn black finish, which has been used for weapons and ornaments in Japan since ancient times. As the buttons age over time the luster settles and a beautiful patina starts to appear, and the pocket bags are made of 8 oz. slub yarn denim which is heavier duty compared to conventional pocket bag materials.
We also have 19oz Kiwami denim jeans in a slim tapered fit, 15oz selvedge chino cloth pants, their very popular Baker pants in both olive and black, and striped athletic socks in two colors.

Werkstatt München’s new spring collection is here!
We’re happy to announce we’ve received our second collection from Germany’s Werkstatt München. This is a line we’ve been quite familiar with for twenty years, introduced at our stores last year, and are excited to expand our offerings from them this season. The collection is produced in Werkstatt’s own studio in Munich Germany out of .925 sterling silver, complete with in-house designed and produced clasps.
We have new Squeezed Link necklaces, Long Link Curb Chain bracelets, Hammered Signet rings, and a really nice Hammered Wound ring.

DEVOA COWHIDE SNEAKERS & HIGH-TWIST YARN SWEATERS
Devoa’s new DIVINATION sneakers are here and they look and feel super nice. These are made of a top-grain cowhide which has been aniline dyed and the sneakers are finished with a vulcanized Vibram sawtooth sole and a fine-knit shaft opening.
We've also received their TIMEBOX sweaters. These are made by a custom developed knit by Devoa’s head designer, Daisuke Nishida, and finished with hand stitched accents. These are really beautiful, and they’re available now at all six of our stores.
