    Hi

as we are all looking for genuine stuff…

I can say that my Meindl Ortler Boots are the real thing, even not used in the hills.

    Just before the weekly cleaning

Meindl is a family-run concern for ages located in Bavaria, Germany.
They mainly produce handmade mountain and hill climbing boots and hiking shoes.

Here you can find more informations and what they offer:

I also got a pair of alpin Meindl boots. Will try to make some pics in the next days.

          They are good shit

In the same league as scarpa, asolo etc

It always amazes me that companies like this make boots from 2-3mm thick leathers (sometimes gore-tex lined) built onto the best of vibram soles with top quality hardware (hooks, eyelets etc) and have a price point of only a couple of hundred quid/euros

Whereas . . . oh fuck I nearly went off on one and started criticising 'artisan' companies who make footwear from lesser materials but manage to charge a good deal more . . . nevermind

                      Hi

I looked for a long time to find a boot, solid and durable enough to suit my needs, since I had for a long time
( at least I believe british made ) Docs, but since they made in Vietnam I decided to look for something
                      european made and classic.
So I stumbled as a northern german over Meindls 'zwiegenähten' half-handmade boot, affordable and
                      very usable indeed.
Its my more or less every day turnout boot, even for some walking the dogs.
Surpringly enough they go nicely on the motorbike too.

                      Drawbach they need attention.

Thanks for all your input, since Im always looking for an alternative too

                      Still not cleaned

Good reminder that I should give some tlc to mine before heading up north for a vacation. You can't go wrong with Meind boots.

Thank you, Werder! Never had these on the radar and I am currently looking for some nice winter boots. Alex, they look awesome. Not as beautiful as OSBs maybe, but they look like those kinda shoes you put on and don't worry about.

Stop I wear them even in the summer, not like the supermodern hightechfibre boots, but stylish and still with the
right socks not too warm at all….

Need to get a 2nd pair before only fareast made hightechfibre gear is around...or still settle for the old english
                              bootmaker, but not sure yet

Keep them on and use them.... 😉

I have two pairs of Meindls, as imported by Cabelas. These are what I wear 90% of the time, because almost all of my time out of the house is spent walking up and down grassy hillsides in unpredictable weather! I wouldn't be able to stay upright in my Grensons or cowboy boots. I had a pretty hard time in White's, too; they're intended for standing in mud, not walking on 40° inclines.

My first pair is their 10" insulated Perfekt hunter. Made in Germany. Not a pretty boot, relatively speaking, but I think it has a certain rugged charm. It's also warm down to -20°F (from personal experience), rated to -40°F.

                                  With flash, to show wear:

                                  Those have been Nikwaxed.

I also have their Italian-made Light Hiker. Goretex, same leather, similar sole. Great fit for my wide meat plates. Currently covered in dust from the fields. I can walk down a 45° slope in these without losing my footing. Here they are with my BBs.

Now I feel like I have to post pics in something prettier!

Nothing too unusual these days: I work from home, at a desk. I simply have a very demanding and high-energy dog, and the surroundings in which to indulge her! 🙂

I also like to get out of the house and hike, regardless of canine input…
