That's a lovely pair.  I actually like the watch from your uncle a lot.  Always loved the tricompax layout for chronographs.

Yep, the layout is classical. And I love the patina of the watch dial. I had the movement refurbished a few years ago but made sure the watchmaker did not touch the look.

Excellent decision.  Is it a Venus movement?  Those will run forever with just a minimum amount of care.

Honestly, I do not know. According to my watchmaker it is not very sophisticated but reliable - so he paraphrased your post 😉

Ipad is underwhelming in general, in my opinion.

Nice watches, though.  I especially like the Thomas Ninchritz, which is surprising, since I'm not normally into regulateurs.

Thinking of taking the plunge and getting myself a decent watch for my 'gulp' 40th.
I don't have much experience with watches (got a sturdy silver metal G-Shock right now…love it) and am looking at spending no
more than 1000-1200 euros. Ideally i'd like something solid (don't want a primadonna watch that scratches easy)
and that looks good with tan leather, silver and rubber straps.
I've seen the Sinn U1, the Steinhart Triton Black (sold out goddam it!) and the Marathon GSAR so far.
Anyone care to point me in the direction of any other worthy contenders?
                                    Would really appreciate the help.
                                    Thanks
