@jdixon1974 to answer your initial question, different iterations of jackets have different dims. Just the way it is. Examine the shoulder measurements and you may find an answer there. Where the sleeve hem ends up on your wrist is also dependent on where the shoulder starts.
However, where are you getting your dims from?in order to have a reliable benchmark you should always get measurements from the IH website, and compare them to the measurements of the jacket you own. You may find them closer than you think.
As for the split steer type III, I own it and it ages beautifully. Just gets softer and softer. Doesn’t get the same patina as a regular steerhide/horsehide jacket, but does end up buttery soft and pliable.

Thanks for the reply. I just looked at the measurements again. The shoulders on the rider (with the shorter sleeves) is 1 inch longer (20.5) than the trucker (19.5) with the longer sleeves.
Would that suggest the overall sleeve length would be the same?
Having said that, the brown steerhide trucker is looking like it should fit. I would like a brown jacket and if it's durable as you suggest then it might be the way for me to go.

@jdixon1974 I tried on both the Horsehide and Split Steer in Hamburg in XL (one size up from my usual L) and the fit/sleeve length seemed similar on both of them.
Yet to try the Split Steer in my actually size, but the measurements on the IH webstore are almost identical to the Horsehide I picked up recently, so I'd be comfortable buying without trying it on in person first when the time does come to make the purchase.

The last thing I would doubt when it comes to Iron Heart is durability.

@T4920 Thank you. The measurements are almost identical between the two so it's probably a safe bet to take. The challenge is, not many retailers or items available so I don't know if I should buy this one now to snag the size. If it sells, it doesn't look like anyone else has one in this size, especially in my country.

@jdixon1974 remember it is a continuous production piece, so will eventually return in all sizes (might take some time though)
Maybe take some time to enjoy/break in your Horsehide, and hopefully your local retailer will eventually get it in so you can try it on in person.

@jdixon1974 that is exactly how it works. They are two different styles but add the shoulder to the arm length and it ends up about the same place on the wrist.

Hi, I'm by no means an IH expert, but I have a deep admiration for the brand. I was wondering what you think is the quintessential IH garment is. What would you recommend to a new Iron Heart buyer, and consider a good representation of what IH is all about?
I would think it would be their heavy weight denim (21-25oz) and their Ultra Heavy Flannels.
What are you thoughts?

For me i would say there lefty type iii jacket. It’s really something if never seen before. When i first wore and felt it it was a new experience in denim. Same goes for there xhs and for me especially there xhsib denim. How it fades and feels. But beside there garments i think this forum should be in my top 3 as well!

@Mizmazzle yeah! It’s a very nice denim and the fades are pretty cool. Since i lost some weight they’re on my waiting list as well.

@pechelman they have been and gone, didnt do well (like the 21ib...) and so the run of the 409 is to try and use the last of the denim.
I understand there are a few die hard IB fans on the forum, but that has not translated into sales and we have such limit3ed capacity for anything 19oz+ we have had to make some tough calls.
