sorry, dumb question, and I could look it up somewhere, but what's the difference between the 634 and the 1955 cut?

@endo 1955 is my all time favorite IH cut. Hard to compare to 634, front and rear rise totally different. I consider this cut an anti fit with a slim looking and wearing silhouette. Most of the anti fit is in the knee. My size 34 has 13” FR, 13.5”thigh and a 10” knee that tapers to an 8.5” hem. Plenty of room in the top block, but slimming from knee to hem.

I would say the top block on 1955 is less boxy and less relaxed than 888s, I love 888s, but for my body type I have to wear my 888s gangster style low and loose. Sameway I use to wear my 634s. I love the silhouette of 634s size 33 and down. In the bigger sizes for me the 634s would feel a little bell bottom due to the larger hem opening in relation to the slimmer 634 top block..

1955 I can wear high on hips and never have to pull them up after bending or sitting and still have plenty of room to be very comfortable whilst sitting or bending. Hope this helps.

AFAIK they’re like 501s. Good bit higher rise than 634 - actually a little higher than 888. Slightly fuller leg than 888 but similar taper. I think I’ve got that right but someone else might chime in.

If you want exactly that, the 633 from Self Edge is it. Would have to order from the US though, not sure if that’s a pain in the ass and/or expensive.

@popvulture I agree they are like 501 from the same era, but totally different than a modern 501 my thigh won’t fit in a modern 501 size 34

@endo I think I would say no, if you love the rise on 634s

I would say yes if you ok with high rise the 1955 definitely have more taper from knee to hem. Just keep in mind the knee is a little fuller then 634

For me rise is one of the most critical measurements., IMHO 1955 would probably be a risky purchase for you, unless you just want to try them on.

                                      Like a size 34 634 is 11 FR, and 15.5 RR, combined rise 26.5

                                      1955s size 34 13 FR, and 16 RR, combined rise 29.

The combined rise is why I love the 1955, instead resting on hip bone I can get the waistband up above my hips which is more comfortable for my body type. I have small glutes and the 1955 also prevents me from getting the dreaded diaper but.

I say give them a try, IHUK has the best return policy in the business. It will cost you 35 USD to return if the don’t fit they way you like.

I would love more IH fans to buy these so they could be in more regular production cycle.
