The arch on the 55 last is definitely different from most boots. I found it to be comfortable, but only after getting used to it. That takes time. I don't think the arch breaks down, I think you and your foot get used to it if it's suitable, and no shoe can suit everyone. They might just not work for you, but it's also possible that with time you'll come to think they are comfortable in their own weird way. How much do you like the way they look? I find that helps me make the decision.

@Nik Thanks for the reply. I’m going to go slow re break in. And yeah I love the way they look so that helps immensely with going through some discomfort. I still can’t quite get over how freaking “robust” they are…in the best way

I haven’t done anything but wear them. I usually don’t mess with stuff like that. I only use boot oil when they need it. I never oil anything else like bets, wallets, waist patches etc. I’m a wash and wear kind of guy. And the washing is infrequent.

I’m down with that And the longer I’m around here and wear “this” kind of stuff the more I adopt that philosophy. I’ve been wearing the new boots 3-4 hours a day and they’re already feeling much better. Swapped the kilties out too.

I really think between the thickness/stiffness of the leather and the severity of the arch it's really just a matter of getting used to them. I think they feel better than my stock Jobmasters did when they were new.

Update on breaking in these Cruisers. I’m about 60 hours or so of wear in and they are becoming very comfortable. The prominent arch is no longer a concern. One funny thing is I wore my Iron Rangers after wearing these for a week and the Red Wings felt almost comically light weight compared to the White’s. I may never be able to go back now.

So round two with White’s. I ordered a pair of Ramblers from Baker’s when I placed my order for the Cruisers to take advantage of their sale. I figured I would only keep one pair. Now I’m looking to sell all my other boots because both pair are just perfect for me. Also, I tend to overdo things.

The Ramblers are a little more comfortable out of the box because of the sole and probably because my foot has been getting used to the 55 last with the Cruisers. Love em both. Highly recommend either pair.
