I find the motor swaps really interesting. Mike Finnegan with the 2JZ engine in the Death Metal Charger, Tony Angelo with the LS in a Porsche. He recently dismanteled a Tesla, so that's going to be an interesting project, too.
But living in Germany, the TÜV will quickly end all these dreams...

@louisbosco I've been thinking about this somewhat none stop since @natehate put that first video out there. And I keep on coming back to the question of what is it that makes the car the car? - In the case of the LS swapped Porsche is it still a Porsche? I never quite realized the potential philosophical depths of an engine swap lol! Before selling I considering an engine swap on my VW vanagon - to put in a Subaru for speed, reliability etc. etc. if I did so it would have still have been a vanagon...anyway, it's something to ponder - is an LS Porsche still a Porsche? I think so, but I understand that others may not.

add that its not changing the weight or the handling

@natehate yeah fair. maybe not in the US. the Barra swaps are pretty common down here in Aus, along with notable JDM engines like your usual 2J or RB swaps..

@Inorganic I think the answer will depend if you are asking the purist or a different crowd. a purist will never admit that it will remain a Porsche. but others might be keen on such interesting projects and derive an answer based on how the final product behaves..

I went out to look at pickup trucks on Monday. I don’t think the sales person though it was funny when I laughed in his face when he showed me the estimated monthly payments. Nor did he find it funny when I called Katie and her laughter could be heard across the showroom floor.

@AdamJ we decided to put the truck on hold for a year or two. That’s when we plan on hitting the road again. We’ll start up a truck/trailer account and pay cash when we’re ready. The travel thread will rise again

Found the legitest Subaru shop in Albuquerque and got all kinds of random shit fixed on my Crosstrek in addition to the new ac compressor I so desperately needed. 🥵
