They’re not dry yet and I also haven’t measured them before the wash. But I’ll let you know from how it feels. The cuff marks should be a good indicator. 😅

                Hey all.

I soaked and washed my UHRs. It seems like the side stitch that runs along the inside that catches the pocket and selvedge has come loose or burst. What should I do about this?

@StiffLeg I wouldn‘t worry too much to be honest 🙂 Just apply some reinforcing stitches holding the two selvedge adages together, so it won‘t unravel any further. It‘s on the inside so nobody will notice the stitches anyways. That‘s my 2 Cents 😉

Otherwise, after the soak and wash I've measured the inseam to be 35.3" (down from the listed 36.5"), basically matching the dimensions of a standard pair of 888S-21. Would it be safe to hem it now?

@StiffLeg there is no exact math.. how hot did you washed them? For example i washed them on 30 celcius the first time and again for the second time and a got a little extra shrinkage on the inseam at the second wash. Didn’t you as well @Daniel-San

I would definitely wash them in the machine with 40 degrees if you want to hem.
I first washed with 30 degrees and and had a little less than 1“ shrinkage. second wash 40 degrees and inseam shrink was another 1“ !

Back from vacation and back in my UHRs. This is the first time putting them on after having washed them right before I left to Indonesia.

                                      Some notes:

Fabric feels as stiff as when I picked them up in Gosport + has a certain „crisp“ to it it didn’t have before. Love it!

The top button is just as difficult to close as when I tried them on raw. So that’s proof of what everyone was suggesting: Worn and washed waist ends up the same as raw.

The whole silhouette tightened up a bit in „no stress areas“ (butt, thighs, leg) and feels more adapted to my body than before.

@Daniel-San The leg did shrink a considerable bit but I can’t quantify (no measurements taken). Luckily I always unfold my cuffs when not wearing my jeans so there’s no visible „off“ cuff mark.

@Heavy_blue @Daniel-San Just checked my washing machine manual. I used a typical warm wash which is in the range of 29-40C.

Good to know. At 35" I'd be looking to do a hem, but if it were to shrink more and closer to 34" I might be good to cuff forever (2" double cuff makes a 30" inseam). The inseam as it is right now is a little unwieldy, particularly at this thickness. But such is the raw life! 🙂
