it's excellent, here I went for a classic 1:1:1 negroni, but split the bitter/amaro side in aperol and valdotaine 50:50
great result, not too heavy, fruity

Great thread. Like many others I developed my “home bar” during the COVID lockdown era, and went from having a few bar tools to having pretty much everything

Some of my favorite cocktails:

Manhattan
Negroni/Boulevardier
Old fashioned
Whiskey Sour

Scotch:

Johnny Walker, any label

Gin:

Hendricks, any kind (Midsummer Solstice is great for a Negroni)

We’ve tried a bunch of gins and in the end decided that we’d stick with a few select ones because we felt that rum offers greater variety. So basically it’s Whitley Neal as standard, Botanist, and something like Le Gin by Christian Drouin and Little Bird

@goosehd Foursquare is from Barbados,so I don’t know if you’ll find it in Jamaica. I’ve enjoyed some of the older Appleton Rums,and this one is pretty good.

Definitely looking for a sipping rum and appreciate the recommendations. I’m hoping they have a decent duty free on the trip back with a good selection. When we left Turks and Caicos we didn’t buy anything due to us having a layover in the States that would have caused us to pay taxes on it when we got back…

I'll add another vote for anything Hampden being one of my favorite rums. But most Jamaican rums are also my favorite right next to agricole from Martinique.
