I am an inveterate horder of stuff that may come in useful.  These 19th Century granite blocks have been lying around for years waiting for me to think of something to do with them.

Well, I have some ideas (helped by @Madame Buttonfly's dictat "I down want any piles of fucking shite lying around here when you've finished the extension"), first of them….

The wood store was knocked up by Les yesterday and today.  Timber needs staining and the coping stones mucked in…..

That right there is the difference between framing in Norway and framing in the UK. Simple structure, but the span between those two 2x4 posts would necessitate a post in the middle in Norway. Because snow.

FTW is a favorite of mine. I picked it up from a crane operator/hells angel, who in the 80’s, would regularly paint that on the side of container ships in 10 foot white letters. Gateway terminal port in new haven CT. FTW indeed

On Friday I had the building regs person come to check on what we have done and sign off the build as conforming to current building regulations.  I was a little worried because there are a couple of areas, I have ignored the regulations, basically to make the extension more in keeping with how the original house was built.

G - "Hello, so what do you need to see/do?"
Regs Person - "Oh just have a quick look"

Pops her head into the kitchen, says "Wow".

G - "So what now?"
Regs Person - "I'll sign it off"

She leaves.

Les (who was higgering in the background in case we needed to explain stuff ) - "You jammy fucker"…..

Not nearly as impressive as some of my Norwegian friends wood stores, but this should see us through a southern English winter…

I'm not sure what the wood is, I forgot to ask Charlie, my woodman.  He's a fellow landrover owner, so he looks after me, I normally get pretty good wood, a larger than normal load at a smaller than normal price….
