I had a F&T 10 year hoodie from their original Kickstarter project. It was through actually that purchase that got me onto the idea of sustainable clothing. Then I found Hiut Denim and then ended up here.

To be honest, I'd pay the extra 50-100 USD and move up a notch to IH, Real McCoy, Buzz Rickson. I gave my F&T hoodie away a couple of years ago as it just didn't´t compare to the kind of stuff I'd become used to.

Oh, and Reigning Champ stuff can always be had on sale. I own 3 of their crew necks and 2 terry hoodies and didn’t pay full price for any of them. Not saying they’re not worth full price but tons of vendors carry RC so they’re everywhere.

BPCall make a great hoodie, I would say very similar quality compared to a few brands named in this thread. Plus they have a neat brand store 8)-cum-watering hole :o in Nanning, comes with my highest recommendations if one finds himself in the area.

I don’t own one (still rocking my free gym hoodies), but Flint ‘n Tinder has a “decade” hoodie that is warranted for 10 years, which is pretty crazy. That’s probably where I’ll look once my freebies are exhausted. [edit: now that I actually read the replies this has been mentioned]

I was actually just recommending Reigning Champ to a friend last night!  But yeah, RC runs slim. It's a great hoodie if you're on the slim side and want to show it off, even while in a sweater. Great quality.  I own 4 of their medium weight Terry hoodies.

American Giant makes some pretty durable and cost effective hoodies. They don't look as nice as the RC brands, something about the fabric just seems dull. I own a few of their classic zips.

I think the 3Sixteen option in either grey or oatmeal will be perfect for you. They're thick and not too slim and in that $150 price range. I own the grey one but don't wear it much since I picked up the Strike Gold loopwheel.

What size hoody are you in RC?  I'm about to pick one up but I don't know if I should go L or XL.  I'm an XL in IH westerns.

Edit: I'm also a Large in American Giant hoodies if that helps.

I went with a medium in RC, and a medium in AG.  I like a slimmer fit and though I can zip up the RC medium, I rarely do, at least not all of the way.  Here are some pics (excuse my giant noggin…it is huge but the camera angle makes it look even bigger):

See, I'm 5'10", 175lbs, 40" chest and I like the slimmer look of the medium RC.  But, again, I usually don't zip them up all of the way.

Have any of you tried the heavier weight RC hoodies?  I only own hoodies with this medium weight fabric.

No shrinkage that I can tell, and I have washed these quite a few times.  Now that you mention it, the fabric color doesn't fade much either.  They make really good quality stuff!

I'm right in between a L and XL in the RC I'm thinking.  I think a L would fit me like your Medium does @Paul9221 (snug fit) where the XL will still fit but be more relaxed.

Yeah my black American Giant hoody is faded out a bit but to be fair I've had the thing for about 4 years.  Still solid though.

To echo what @Paul9221 said, I didn't notice any shrinkage, but then again, I cold machine wash and hang dry mine.

Interesting. I figured you'd be a large in RC based on the fits you went with on your IH tops.

I'm not 100% certain but my hoodies might be heavyweight. Is there any way to know for sure with the hangtags? I believe my crewnecks are medium weight, but I honestly can't tell the difference between those and my hoodies.

AG kills me with their colors.  I don't know why but they always seem so faded!

I have their classic crew pull-over, and have used it countless times for my gym sweater, and after about 4 years, it's finally starting to fray at the seems.  I think it should've lasted longer, but that's a pretty good run.

I also use their premium crew Ts for the gym, and man, those things are built solid!  I've been using those for about 4 years as well and there's no threads coming loose or anything, and I actually work out in those, unlike the sweater.  The only problem that I've encountered with those shirts is that if you let them dry in the sun, they fade badly.  I always turn them inside-out when I leave them out there so thankfully it only shows on the inside.

I'm not 100% certain but my hoodies might be heavyweight. Is there any way to know for sure with the hangtags? I believe my crewnecks are medium weight, but I honestly can't tell the difference between those and my hoodies.

You know, I might've fit a large just fine.  That's why I'd love to see a fitpic of someone with my build with a large RC hoodie.  I actually like the slim fit and I don't think it's too tight.  When I want a bigger fit, I go with my IH hoodies.

Honestly, not sure how to check what kind they are.  I just tried to log into their site to ensure that I had ordered the medium weight terry, but they seem to have lost my account?  Shrug.

                                          Blanket-line all the things!!!
