Ordered these in March of 2019 & wore them when I wanted to sport a new looking pair.  Hoping give them a ton of wear this Summer and see what kind of fades I can develop before the weather changes in the Fall.

Many folks here have described this denim as tightly woven & more akin to IH's stiffer/crispier Extra-Heavy 25oz as opposed to their Flagship 21oz which embodies that "sweatpants" feel almost immediately.  Those comments all check out in my experience and I'd add that the light weight of this fabric really adds to the comfort, especially in the Summer.  Overall, it's quite clean & tidy in appearance.

Today I finally broke their dry spell & gave them a really hot soak with some good agitation by hand.  To dry them out, I left them in the hot bed of my truck & finished them off in the dryer.  After several wears from new, there was plenty of room to shrink this pair up so no mercy.

Here are some before/after measurements followed by some pics.  Shrink averaged 2.97% and I don't think you could possibly get any more.

Surprising amount of Indigo shed in the soak ???

Bonus pic - Indigo crocking on the Tochigi belt 😎

@Hoppy_IPA Great write up and documentation. And a nice looking pair of jeans too. I’m always tempted to dip my toe in the 14oz water, but summer is so short here that every time I started getting serious about it, the temperatures drop.

These are my “warm day” jeans, my “hot day” jeans are my 16oz 666’s which I swear are noticeably lighter and more breathable than the 142 denim somehow. Love this denim though, looks like it’s going to fade beautifully.

@neph93 - Thank you.  I always like reading how people's measurements change with wear & laundering.  Very helpful if you're considering buying or washing a pair.

@IH-GARY  Terrific fades you have going there.  Hoping to get close to that by Fall.  How long have you been working on those? Washes/Soaks?

Looking at getting this denim, seems like the perfect weight all year round.. I have 555-01 for colder seasons  😉

I wanted to check, doesn’t seem to be a heap of difference between the 555 and 777 cut, slightly more room in the knee in the 777 and shorter rise. That’s it? If so these should be ideal 🙂

Any idea on when these will be restocked?

                      Cheers

Depends how you look at. They are both slim and tapered, so on the surface, not much difference. The similarities end there though.

The 777 rise is meaningfully lower, which amongst other things gives the top block a very different shape. It is more fitted than the 555. The taper is different too which is what gives the slightly bigger knee. On the 555 the taper starts at the top of the thigh and continues to the knee, but is less pronounced from knee to hem. The 777 has a gentler taper thigh to knee but a more pronounced taper from knee to hem.

Some people have commented that the 21oz is just as easy to wear in the warmth as the 14oz. Tightness of weave is as, or possibly more, important as weight when it comes to the way denim allows your body to cool. The 21oz has a much looser weave, allowing heat to escape and cool air to come in.

I'm happy it made sense. I think that if you check out the infographic at the bottom of this page, and consider my description it will make even more sense.

                            https://www.ironheart.co.uk/content/our-cuts-jeans

You can clearly see that the 777 tapers all the way down from thigh to hem, while the 555 tapers strongly at first before having a relatively straight drop from knee to hem. The 888 leg is more or less an enlarged, wider version of the 777 leg.

^This. I’ve tried a bunch of different IH denim. The lightest ones aren’t necessarily the coolest ones. The tightness of the weave is much more important.

@neph93 that was incredibly helpful. Thanks for that.

Still really want this lighter weight denim, just unsure of cut at this point. I love the way the 555 doesn’t taper too much, I could possibly just size up to get a bit more space in the top block. Or try the 666, which is appealing too.

                                Decisions decisions.

Had these for over a year & had only wore them to when I wanted to rock a “new” pair.  I decided to make these my summer pair this year & have been having fun seeing them start to develop.
Gave them a real good hot wash a couple day’s ago & it was incredible how much indigo they shed in the bath.

Just a crummy phone pic but hopefully I’ll have the start of something cool before Fall rolls around

So I did give them another wash, as I feel I need to keep the denim as strong as I can, but man - these are my favorite all time jeans, hands down.
