Is it necessary to wash it before worn it ? If not, i should take a 31 like my 777XHS.
      (my first raw)

UHR should be soaked and washed before wearing. If you compare 777-XHS and 777-UHR measurements and do some math with the info on the product page you should be able to work out your size.

UHR stretches back to around pre-shrink size with wear so measuring your XHS now and buying the size closest to that should work too.

What I do is wear till it smells then hand wash with dr bronners at warm temp but not so hot that it hurts your hands. Then wear again till it stinks and so on. But of course everyone does it their own way

Whereas everyone can do wtf they like with their jeans, and my approach is not too different to yours @dave28 if you do that with UHR denim you’ll drastically shorten the lifespan of your jeans and end up with fade shift. The latter may not be of concern to all but the former should be.

What is the best way. I had that denim once I think but sold it before any effects like that set it. They were too warm for me except outdoors in winter.

The fabric is loomstate, so as raw as it gets. Nothing has been done to it after weaving which means the fabric is very abrasive and the stitching not properly embedded. Not soaking and washing can lead to tears and holes forming in the sharp creases and the stitching breaking because it is exposed.

They will shrink considerably when washed leading to wear at the knees and hem moving an inch up your leg.

The soak softens the fabric and embeds the stitching, the wash gets rid of most of the shrinkage.

So I think 32 is the right size.

these have restored my faith in the 777 cut. earlier this year, I purchased a pair of the 777 25oz and no matter how I tried, I just couldn't get them to work, love was in short supply then I went on  a crash diet and took the plunge with the 777/UHR…..Now I'm thinking should I take the plunge with the 25oz and see whether we can make it work...

Soak in hot water for about two hours. Then wash them in a machine inside out, while still wet, at a low temperature and very low or no spin. Air dry.

Is this format necessarily, to soak for two hours then machine wash

Yes, unless you want your jeans to shrink a whole bunch when they finally see hot water. By that time though they’ll be ruined because the stitching will have broken and there’ll be tears at the sharply creased areas.

This is loomstate denim. It has seen no water since it was dyed with indigo. Until it is soaked and washed the stitching isn’t embedded and the denim is prone to creasing and tearing.

Here is the full, official Iron Heart wash guide for UHR denim:

                                          “ULTRA HEAVY RAW (UHR) DENIM

An initial soak or wash is particularly important with this denim, as it is very stiff and abrasive in its raw state, so can cut through the constructional stitching if not bedded in. The denim is loom-state (there has been no post weave processing performed on the denim), so it will shrink and skew. Our UHR jeans are designed to be “shrink to fit”, so after washing or soaking a couple of times they will shrink to tag size. You are likely to see about one inch shrinkage in the waist and two inches shrinkage in the inseam. When you get your jeans, soak them in a bathtub or large sink of cold water for a few hours. Then turn them inside-out and wash them in a washing machine* at no hotter than 30 degrees C (circa 90 degrees F), you do not need to add washing powder or detergent. Ideally no spin (or very slow spin) and don’t put them in a tumble dryer, it is far better to allow them to air dry (still inside-out). Before they are completely dry, turn right side out and try to smooth out all the wrinkles.”
