@Wander Dam did they not cut your feet up? I have never had a pair of redwings that didn't mess my feet up to be begin with. Haven't been able to cut round the block without a blister let alone up Everest!!

@spitfiredealer Well, not all feet are made the same nor the boots. I have normal arch with feet on the narrower side and the RWs have always worked for me and fit like a glove. The initial stiffness goes away quickly once you put the boots to work. And I always wear thicker socks. As for the basecamp trip, I started out with brand new boots from home in MN to 24+ hr of flight to Kathmandu…a week of walking around Kathmandu and another 10 days in the mountains. When I got back to Kathmandu from the mountains, they felt like half size bigger and still are that way. If you know what you are doing, you can trek up to base camp with Vans.
