This is my favorite IH denim. 777N could top it the way it's going, but the 18oz is a masterpiece.

      Think it, be it.

Thanks @neph93!  And I completely agree.  The pair of vintage 666’s that Giles broke in is my favorite pair of Iron Hearts I’ve ever seen.

Really liking how these look after a fresh wash.  Maybe cheating, but I threw about 3/4 a cup of bleach in with a wash and I feel it really lightened things up and has them on their way to looking like one of my favorite old pairs of 501’s.  I have a pair of 20th Anniversary 643’s I’m excited to wear but I can’t turn away from these!

Iirc, the bottom pair is unwashed for comparison purposes

          Me too!

Just been lucky enough to pick up a pair of vintage 555s from the marketplace that I plan to use as my summer jeans for the next few years, with regular washes in the hope of capturing the magic of Giles' pair...

I also plan on adding a lil bleach to speed things up, as I got this pair for a steal and wanna do something wild to differentiate this pair from my other indigo jeans 😉

@T4920 I shudder to think how many pairs of jeans Giles’s 18’s sold. Reason I got a pair too. Will enjoy seeing the progress of your bleach routine and nice score!

@SKT I'm excited to see how they turn out too!
I saw a pair of 14oz IHs on Reddit/Instagram that have been washed and bleached 14 times in 11 months, turned out so unique and beautiful.

@T4920 Good luck! If your washer has the small bleach dispenser it makes it pretty fool proof. I started with 3/4 cup of bleach and got noticeable, but still pretty subtle results, with the last wash I think I went up to 2.5 cups and it lightened them up quite a bit more. I used the scraps from my hem as a tester first just to make sure I had everything dialed in.

@T4920 very interested to see how this goes. I‘ve been thinking of bleaching my IHSH-33 for a while, but been nervous.

@october-rust does your machine have a specific bleach dispenser? Mine doesn’t, but I’m thinking I could use the detergent dispenser. Also, is there a specific bleach you used?

@jerkules yeah, mine does have a specific bleach dispenser- it might be a US washer thing? But I’d assume a detergent dispenser would work the same. Again, (obviously) just test on something else first! I used Clorox bleach but I think you’d be fine with anything.

I’ll post better pictures tomorrow, they’ve taken a backseat to a couple other pairs, but I’m really happy with how they’re looking.

As promised here's some daylight pics of my pair. I probably won't give them much more bleach as I'm happy with the color they've faded to, but I can't wait to see them with more wear.
